On the Importance of H-Bonding Interactions in the Enclathration of Boric Acids in Na(I) Polymers: Experimental and Theoretical Studies

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Two Na(I) coordination polymers, namely, {Na(BA)2(μ-H2O)2}n{adp}n (1) and {[Na2(μ-BA)(μ-fum)(μ-H2O)4](BA)}n (2) (where, BA = boric acid, adp = adipic acid, fum = fumarate),were prepared and characterized using elemental analysis, TGA, FT-IR, and single ...

Synthesis and characterization of 1- and 2-monoglycerides of anteiso fatty acids

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1966
The branched-chain fatty acids d-(+)-12-methyltetradecanoic acid (C15 anteiso) and d-(+)-14-methylhexadecanoic acid (C17, anteiso) were isolated from the lipids of Listeria monocytogenes and their 1- and 2-monoglycerides were prepared.

Newly Designed Mesoporous Silica and Organosilica Nanostructures Based on Pentablock Copolymer Templates in Weakly Acidic Media

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
We developed a new category of porous silica and organosilicas nanostructures in a facile method based on weakly acidic aqueous-ethanol media by utilizing two different pentablock copolymer templates of type PLGA-PEO-PPO-PEO-PLGA.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Nanoporous Polyurea from a Triisocyanate and Boric Acid: A Paradigm of a General Reaction Pathway for Isocyanates and Mineral Acids

open access: yes, 2016
Isocyanates react with carboxylic acids and yield amides. As reported herewith, however, transferring that reaction to a range of mineral acids (anhydrous H3BO3, H3PO4, H3PO3, H2SeO3, H6TeO6, H5IO6, and H3AuO3) yields urea.
