Nationwide Implementation of Double Reflex Testing for Hepatitis Delta in Spain: Results From the Retrospective Phase of the Spain‐DDR Study

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 63, Issue 10, Page 1390-1397, May 2026.
Nationwide implementation of double reflex testing for hepatitis delta in Spain markedly increased anti‐HDV and HDV viral load testing between 2022 and 2024, enabling national seroprevalence estimates. Despite this progress, substantial regional heterogeneity persists, highlighting the need for standardised reflex diagnostic protocols.

From Purpose to Persistence: How Intentional Introductions by Humans Influence Ecological Niches of Non‐Native Plants

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 35, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim The intentional or unintentional transport of non‐native plants is key to overcoming geographic barriers. However, it remains unclear whether such introduction pathways associate with overcoming environmental barriers, which is key for successful invasion.

Revealing Migration Selectivity Through the Combination of Intention and Preparation: Evidence From African Migration

open access: yesInternational Migration, Volume 64, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT A key explanation for variation in migration outcomes across destinations lies in the selectivity of migrants. This paper argues that combining intended destination with migration preparation provides a useful indicator of early‐stage migration selectivity, capturing how migrants with different destination intentions differ before departure ...

Do Climate Conditions in Origin Shape Return Migration Intentions? Evidence From West Africans in Germany

open access: yesInternational Migration, Volume 64, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the role of climate change in shaping return migration intentions among international migrants. Using an original representative survey of over 1000 first‐generation West African migrants in Germany, we correlate variation in climate conditions in respondents' subnational regions of origin in West Africa to their return ...

Evolutionarily Optimal Risk Aversion

open access: yesRisk Analysis, Volume 46, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In an experimental choice situation, we identify risk‐acceptability thresholds and show how such thresholds are updated in response to benchmark information, a recurrent feature of health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) risk governance. We present a theoretical framework linking the observed behavior to an underlying evolutionary parameter ...

Catalytic High‐Speed Reactive Extrusion for Polyethylene Mechanochemical Upcycling

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Twin screw extrusion at high speeds is a mechanochemical strategy for polyethylene recycling that takes advantage of high shear rates and intimate mixing with catalyst to induce structural transformations. This process intensification approach can lower the thermal energy requirements of chemical recycling, contributing to more economically viable and ...

Engineering Crosslinker‐Free Sericin–Gelatin Hydrogels With Tunable Rheology for 3D Printing Applications

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 8, Page 1671-1680, 15 April 2026.
Gelatin derived from porcine tissue and sericin extracted from Bombyx mori cocoons are combined to form crosslinker‐free hydrogels with tunable composition, enabling extrusion‐based 3D printing and biocompatible constructs for biomedical applications. ABSTRACT Hydrogels can be processed by 3D printing to manufacture tailor made structures, broadening ...
