Soft X-ray angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of heavily boron-doped superconducting diamond films

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2006
We have performed soft X-ray angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (SXARPES) of microwave plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition diamond films with different B concentrations in order to study the origin of the metallic behavior of superconducting

Fabrication of nitrogen-doped quenched-produced diamond electrodes on titanium substrates by coaxial arc plasma deposition

open access: yesFunctional Diamond
Nitrogen-doped quenched-produced diamond (N-doped Q-dia) thin films were deposited onto a titanium substrate by coaxial arc plasma deposition (CAPD). The N-doped Q-dia thin film was successfully synthesized at room temperature without peeling.

Reconstruction of native cellular microanatomy in a novel bioengineered full thickness human nasal mucosal construct

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Bioengineered tissue constructs are vital technologies employed in in vitro testing of both fundamental biological principles and industrial screening practices. Current approaches to modelling the nasal mucosa in vitro are not representative and are associated with limitations that impact their reliability and predictive value.

Electrocatalytic C─N Coupling in Aqueous Solutions for High‐Value Product Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 14, 27 March 2026.
Electrocatalytic C–N coupling offers a sustainable route to synthesize crucial organic nitrogen compounds from abundant feedstocks under mild conditions. This review examines recent progress in overcoming key challenges, like slow kinetics and competing reactions through advanced catalysts and novel mechanisms, paving the way for transforming chemical ...

α‐Synuclein oligomers slow down action potential firing and enhance dopamine release by increasing Cav2.2 currents in midbrain dopaminergic neurons

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Left: the spontaneous quantal release of dopamine (DA) occurs at very low frequency in control conditions. Right: exogenous α‐synuclein potentiates Cav2.2 currents and DA release but drastically reduces the spontaneous firing rate of substantia nigra DA neurons.

Laser-excited photoemission spectroscopy study of superconducting boron-doped diamond

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2006
We have investigated the low-energy electronic state of boron-doped diamond thin film by the laser-excited photoemission spectroscopy. A clear Fermi-edge is observed for samples doped above the semiconductor–metal boundary, together with the ...

Experienced faculty members share their journey of teaching new classes

open access: yesNatural Sciences Education, Volume 55, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract This study examined whether experience in the classroom changed the experience of teaching a new class in higher education. Weekly journals were maintained by three experienced teachers as they taught new courses at a land‐grant university.

Fossil Hegemony and Capitalist Realism in Tropic of Orange

open access: yesFuture Humanities, Volume 4, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines Karen Tei Yamashita's Tropic of Orange (1997) through the lens of Mark Fisher's influential concept ‘capitalist realism’. Scholars of petrofiction have pointed to a political ambivalence in the representation of fossil fuels, where a better understanding of fossil capital can overwhelm as much as galvanize.

Electrochemical Phosphate Sensors With Sub‐Nanomolar Detection Limit Based on Selective and Reversible Europium(III) Receptors

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
This work presents an electrochemical phosphate detection platform by integrating europium receptors into amperometric and organic electrochemical transistor sensors. These configurations enabled real‐time, selective, reversible phosphate sensing in artificial interstitial fluid and Mississippi Sound water samples, demonstrating their potential for ...
