Plasma boron and the effects of boron supplementation in males.

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1994
Recently, a proliferation of athletic supplements has been marketed touting boron as an ergogenic aid capable of increasing testosterone. The effect of boron supplementation was investigated in male bodybuilders. Ten male bodybuilders (aged 20 to 26) were given a 2.5-mg boron supplement, while nine male bodybuilders (aged 21 to 27) were given a placebo

Nanofillers Reinforcing Biopolymer Composites for Sustainable Food Packaging Applications: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biopolymers are sustainable, biodegradable alternatives to petroleum‐based plastics for food packaging. Its adoption is often limited by poor mechanical strength, barrier properties, and improved thermal stability through the incorporation of nanofillers.

On the Hardness of a New Boron Phase, Orthorhombic {\gamma}-B28

open access: yes, 2011
Measurements of the hardness of a new high-pressure boron phase, orthorhombic {\gamma}-B28, are reported. According to the data obtained, {\gamma}-B28 has the highest hardness (~50 GPa) of all known crystalline modifications of ...

Au@h‐BN Core–Shell Nanostructure as Advanced Shell‐Isolated Nanoparticles for In Situ Electrochemical Raman Spectroscopy in Alkaline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the stability and Raman signal enhancement effects of Au@h‐BN nanoparticles in an alkaline electrolyte on. A comparison between conventional SiO2 and h‐BN shells reveals that the h‐BN core‐shell structure provides superior stability and enhanced Raman intensity over multiple cyclic voltammetry cycles.

The diversity of chromosome structure of males in Cobitis (Teleostei, Cobitidae) populations

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2015
The populations of Cobitis distributed in Poland are usually composed of the spined loach C. taenia Linnaeus, 1758 (2n=48) or the danubian loach C. elongatoides Bacescu & Maier, 1969 (2n=50), triploid hybrid females (3n=73, 3n=74, 3n=75) and tetraploid ...

Boron in groundwater of the Island of Cyprus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Boron can be found in high concentrations in the groundwater of the Island of Cyprus, especially in the central part of the island. Boron in high concentrations is of major concern due to its toxicity to both animals and irrigated plants.
