Boron nitride catalysis

Science, 2016
Catalysis Propene is one of the highest-volume organic chemicals produced. Propene has mainly been made from naphtha, but changes in the global supply chain are creating shortages. Direct conversion from propane, a component of natural gas, via reaction with oxygen is an attractive alternative, but existing approaches produce a large fraction of ...

Purification of Single-Walled Boron Nitride Nanotubes and Boron Nitride Cages

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2007
Continuous laser vaporization of a BN target under N2 atmosphere is up to now the unique route to single-walled boron nitride nanotubes (BN-SWNTs). Although grams of product can be obtained by this technique, the raw material contains in addition to the BN-SWNTs, different by-products made of boron and nitrogen.

Boron Nitride and Silicon Boron Nitride Film and Polish Characterization

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1993
A (silicon) boron nitride deposition process based on diborane and ammonia chemistry has been developed. Stable (silicon) boron nitride films have been obtained and the film properties were characterized. The mechanical resistance of boron nitride films against abrasives is utilized for stop layer applications for chemical mechanical polishing.

Computer simulation and boron nitride

Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 1997
Abstract This paper presents computer simulation studies of boron nitride using ab initio and empirical methods. Results of self-consistent DFT-LDA calculations are shown, which were performed to characterize static ground-state properties of the different BN modifications.

Nano boron nitride flatland

Chem. Soc. Rev., 2014
Recent years have witnessed many breakthroughs in research on two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials, among which is hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), a layered material with a regular network of BN hexagons. This review provides an insight into the marvellous nano BN flatland, beginning with a concise introduction to BN and its low-dimensional ...

Crystal Structure of Boron Nitride

Nature, 1950
THE accepted structure of boron nitride, proposed by Hassel1 and Brager2,3, is that of graphite with the carbon atoms replaced by boron and nitrogen atoms, and is designated structure type B.12 in the “Strukturbericht”4. This structure does not give a good agreement between observed and calculated intensities; and as the original work is open to other ...
