Molecule Ordering Triggered by Boron Nitride Nanotubes and “Green” Chemical Functionalization of Boron Nitride Nanotubes

open access: yes, 2007
Boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) were found to induce a new phase in ionic liquids and form gels. The new phases indicate ordering of the ionic liquids' molecules on the surface of BNNTs.

Far‐Infrared Hyperbolic Phonon–Polaritons in Zirconium Disulfide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An unpatterned ZrS2${\rm ZrS}_2$ flake, coupled to far‐field infrared light by metal nanoribbons, reveals hyperbolic phonon polaritons with multiple higher‐order branches and effective refractive indices up to 223. This resonator‐assisted approach establishes ZrS2${\rm ZrS}_2$ as a compact van der Waals platform for deeply subwavelength far‐infrared ...

CVD Grown Hybrid MoSe2–WSe2 Lateral/Vertical Heterostructures With Strong Interlayer Exciton Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable bottom‐up CVD methodology, based on liquid transition metal salt precursors, is presented for the controlled growth of two high‐quality MoSe2–WSe2 heterostructures (HSs): purely lateral (HS I) and hybrid lateral/vertical (HS II), by simply adjusting precursor concentration.

Phosphorylated Boron Nitride Nanosheets as Highly Effective Barrier Property Enhancers

open access: yes, 2018
Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) with outstanding impermeability and resistivity seems to hold promise as a long-term corrosion barrier for metals. However, the high-yield production of hBN still remains a key challenge.

Rhombohedral Boron Nitride Epitaxy on ZrB2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Epitaxial rhombohedral boron nitride films were deposited on ZrB2(0001)/4H-SiC(0001) by chemical vapor deposition at 1485 °C from the reaction of triethylboron and ammonia and with a minute amount of silane (SiH4).

Direct Growth of 2D Bilayers on Au(111) for Low‐Coercive Sliding Ferroelectricity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled CVD growth of stacking‐defined bilayer ReS2 on Au(111) enables parallel‐stacked bilayers with intrinsic sliding ferroelectricity, a strong piezoelectric response, and an ultralow coercive voltage. Atomic‐resolution imaging and in situ measurements further reveal the decisive role of clean interfaces in achieving low‐barrier ferroelectric ...
