Recently, based on computer simulations, it has been proposed that stable boron nitride nanoscrolls (BNNSs) can exist. In this work we show that the BNNSs stability mechanisms follow the same simple physical principles proposed for carbon nanoscrolls (CNSs).

AbstractNew observations are presented on the emission of electrons from n-type boron nitride (BN) cold cathode films. These carbon-doped BN films demonstrate a significant improvement in the electron emission current, on the order of 1 to 3 orders of magnitude, as a function of the extraction field for many different materials and morphologies. These ...

Boron-nitride nanotube triggered self-assembly of hexagonal boron-nitride nanostructure
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2014Molecular mechanics results show that a hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) membrane can spontaneously assemble on the single-walled boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) in a scroll or helical manner, showing an interesting dependence on h-BN width.

AbstractThe structure and properties of boron nitride fibers were examined. The fibers are polycrystalline consisting of a major phase of turbostratic boron nitride and a three‐dimensional ordered phase which is not hexagonal. The density of the fibers is determined by the amount of internal microporosity and crystal interlayer spacing.

Commercially available boron fiber was heated in ammonia with hydrogen, nitrogen with argon, and in a mixture of hydrogen, nitrogen and boron trichloride gases in an attempt to produce a nitride coating. It was found that heating the boron fiber in a mixture of ammonia and hydrogen resulted in the formation of a boron nitride coating which offers ...
