Nano boron nitride flatland

Chem. Soc. Rev., 2014
Recent years have witnessed many breakthroughs in research on two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials, among which is hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), a layered material with a regular network of BN hexagons. This review provides an insight into the marvellous nano BN flatland, beginning with a concise introduction to BN and its low-dimensional ...

Interlayer shear of nanomaterials: Graphene–graphene, boron nitride–boron nitride and graphene–boron nitride

Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, 2017
In this paper, the interlayer sliding between graphene and boron nitride (h-BN) is studied by molecular dynamics simulations. The interlayer shear force between h-BN/h-BN is found to be six times higher than that of graphene/graphene, while the interlayer shear between graphene/h-BN is approximate to that of graphene/graphene.

Boron nitride catalysis

Science, 2016
Catalysis Propene is one of the highest-volume organic chemicals produced. Propene has mainly been made from naphtha, but changes in the global supply chain are creating shortages. Direct conversion from propane, a component of natural gas, via reaction with oxygen is an attractive alternative, but existing approaches produce a large fraction of ...

“White Graphenes”: Boron Nitride Nanoribbons via Boron Nitride Nanotube Unwrapping

Nano Letters, 2010
Inspired by rich physics and functionalities of graphenes, scientists have taken an intensive interest in two-dimensional (2D) crystals of h-BN (analogue of graphite, so-called "white" graphite). Recent calculations have predicted the exciting potentials of BN nanoribbons in spintronics due to tunable magnetic and electrical properties; however no ...

Effect of homonuclear boron bonds in the adsorption of DNA nucleobases on boron nitride nanosheets

, 2021
Quantum-mechanics calculations were carried out within the density functional theory (DFT) scheme, to analyze the sorbate-sorbent interaction between DNA nucleobases (purines: guanine and adenine; pyrimidines: cytosine and thymine) and hexagonal boron ...

Highly thermally conductive polyvinyl alcohol/boron nitride nanocomposites with interconnection oriented boron nitride nanoplatelets

, 2021
With the development of high power density electronic devices, much more excessive heat is generated, which puts forward higher requirements for the thermal conductivity (TC) of polymer materials.

Boron nitride-epoxy inverse “nacre-like” nanocomposite coatings with superior anticorrosion performance

, 2021
Embedding 2D nanomaterials in polymer matrix is a fascinating strategy to construct anticorrosive coatings with superior barrier performance. However, this is extremely limited by the uncontrolled dispersion and arrangement of 2D nanomaterials in coating

Junctions between a boron nitride nanotube and a boron nitride sheet

Nanotechnology, 2008
For future nanoelectromechanical signalling devices, it is vital to understand how to connect various nanostructures. Since boron nitride nanostructures are believed to be good electronic materials, in this paper we elucidate the classification of defect geometries for combining boron nitride structures.

Purification of Single-Walled Boron Nitride Nanotubes and Boron Nitride Cages

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2007
Continuous laser vaporization of a BN target under N2 atmosphere is up to now the unique route to single-walled boron nitride nanotubes (BN-SWNTs). Although grams of product can be obtained by this technique, the raw material contains in addition to the BN-SWNTs, different by-products made of boron and nitrogen.
