High-quality nanocavities through multimodal confinement of hyperbolic polaritons in hexagonal boron nitride

Nature Materials, 2022
Compressing light into nanocavities substantially enhances light–matter interactions, which has been a major driver for nanostructured materials research.

Boron Nitride Nanotubes

Science, 1995
The successful synthesis of pure boron nitride (BN) nanotubes is reported here. Multi-walled tubes with inner diameters on the order of 1 to 3 nanometers and with lengths up to 200 nanometers were produced in a carbon-free plasma discharge between a BN-packed tungsten rod and a cooled copper electrode.

Identifying carbon as the source of visible single-photon emission from hexagonal boron nitride

Nature Materials, 2020
Single-photon emitters (SPEs) in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) have garnered increasing attention over the last few years due to their superior optical properties.

Interlayer shear of nanomaterials: Graphene–graphene, boron nitride–boron nitride and graphene–boron nitride

Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, 2017
In this paper, the interlayer sliding between graphene and boron nitride (h-BN) is studied by molecular dynamics simulations. The interlayer shear force between h-BN/h-BN is found to be six times higher than that of graphene/graphene, while the interlayer shear between graphene/h-BN is approximate to that of graphene/graphene.

Boron nitride catalysis

Science, 2016
Catalysis Propene is one of the highest-volume organic chemicals produced. Propene has mainly been made from naphtha, but changes in the global supply chain are creating shortages. Direct conversion from propane, a component of natural gas, via reaction with oxygen is an attractive alternative, but existing approaches produce a large fraction of ...

“White Graphenes”: Boron Nitride Nanoribbons via Boron Nitride Nanotube Unwrapping

Nano Letters, 2010
Inspired by rich physics and functionalities of graphenes, scientists have taken an intensive interest in two-dimensional (2D) crystals of h-BN (analogue of graphite, so-called "white" graphite). Recent calculations have predicted the exciting potentials of BN nanoribbons in spintronics due to tunable magnetic and electrical properties; however no ...

Junctions between a boron nitride nanotube and a boron nitride sheet

Nanotechnology, 2008
For future nanoelectromechanical signalling devices, it is vital to understand how to connect various nanostructures. Since boron nitride nanostructures are believed to be good electronic materials, in this paper we elucidate the classification of defect geometries for combining boron nitride structures.
