In this work, we introduced highly thermally conductive and fibrous amino multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MCNT-NH2) into hexagonal boron nitride/liquid crystal epoxy resin (h-BN/LCER) composites to improve the thermal conductivity of the composites. First,

Boron nitride nanotubes for gene silencing
Non-viral gene delivery is increasingly investigated as an alternative to viral vectors due to low toxicity and immunogenicity, easy preparation, tissue specificity, and ability to transfer larger sizes of genes. In this study, boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) are functionalized with oligonucleotides (oligo-BNNTs).

Excitons in Boron Nitride Nanotubes: Dimensionality Effects [PDF]
We show that the optical absorption spectra of boron nitride (BN) nanotubes are dominated by strongly bound excitons. Our first-principles calculations indicate that the binding energy for the first and dominant excitonic peak depends sensitively on the dimensionality of the system, varying from 0.7 eV in bulk hexagonal BN via 2.1 eV in the single ...

The theoretical study on interaction of hydrogen with single-walled boron nitride nanotubes. I. The reactive force field ReaxFFHBN development [PDF]
We present a new reactive force field ReaxFFHBN derived to accurately model large molecular and condensed phase systems of H, B, and N atoms. ReaxFFHBN has been tested against quantum calculation data for B–H, B–B, and B–N bond dissociations and for H–B ...

Raman Spectroscopy Of Boron Nitride Nanotubes And Boron Nitride — Carbon Composites [PDF]
Boron nitride nanotubes (BN-NT) are topological analoges to single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT). We analysed and refined the filling process for SWCNTs and applied it to the BN-NTs. BN-NTs were first annealed in air to open the ends and to remove BN particles. A filling procedure with C60 fullerene via vapour phase was applied.

Mathematical Modelling for Joining Boron Nitride Graphene with Other BN Nanostructures
Boron nitride (BN) nanomaterials such as boron nitride graphenes, boron nitride nanotubes, and boron nitride nanocones are attracting attention among the most promising nanomaterials due to their physical, chemical, and electronic properties when ...

Iron oxide doped boron nitride nanotubes: structural and magnetic properties
A first-principles formalism is employed to investigate the interaction of iron oxide (FeO) with a boron nitride (BN) nanotube. The stable structure of the FeO-nanotube has Fe atoms binding N atoms, with bond length of roughly $\sim$2.1 \AA, and binding ...
