Boronizing of electroplated steel

Metal Science and Heat Treatment of Metals, 1962
The process of boronizing steel takes different forms for steels plated with different metals. On nickel-plated specimens the structure of the boronized layer is normal. Layers of copper on specimen surfaces prevent boron from diffusing into the underlying steel, and may serve as a means of protecting non-working surfaces of articles in selective ...

Note on the determination of boron in steel and ferro-boron

Fresenius' Zeitschrift für analytische Chemie, 1966
Generally 0.008% or even less of boron is added to steel for grain refining and increasing its hardenability. Difficulty arises for the determination of such a small amount of this element in presence of the prepondarent amount of iron by any of the existing methods.

Boron Constituents in Low-boron Steel

Nature, 1963
IT has been demonstrated by autoradiography that, in steel and related alloys containing boron, this element sometimes segregates to grain boundaries of the matrix. This has to be taken into account when considering the damaging effect of neutron irradiation, boron-10 capturing neutrons and emitting lithium and helium.

Rapid spectrophotometric determination of boron in steel

Talanta, 1970
A rapid spectrophotometric method is presented for the determination of boron in steel by use of the fluoborate-Methylene Blue complex. The method is in principle similar to that of Rosotte, but modifications simplify the operation, obviate contamination and avoid problems with emulsion formation.

Boronizing of Sintered Steels

Powder Metallurgy, 1979
The increase in wear resistance is in both cases attributable to the materials deposited on the surface. In methods of Type (a) the base material is participating only to the extent that it must form a sufficiently firm bond with the wearresistant layer. An example of this type of method is the flame-spraying of hard materials. For Type (b) methods the
