Effect of boronizing composition on hardness of boronized AISI 1045 steel

open access: yesMaterials Letters, 2020
Abstract Surface hardening process of cam shafts manufactured from AISI-1045 Steel was provided by boronizing in liquid and solid media. To boronize in liquid and solid medium, various chemical agents were used. At this study, research was conducted on hardness and thickness of the layers obtained according to the boronizing composition.

Characteristics of Boronized 316L Austenitic Stainless Steel by Powder Boronizing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean institute of surface engineering, 2011
In this study, the mechanical properties of boronized 316L austenitic stainless steel have been investigated. Boronizing was carried out in solid medium consisting of Ekabor powder at 900 C and 1000 C for 2, 4 and 8 hours, respectively. The properties of sample were analyzed by field emission scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer, Glow ...

Neutron Shielding Optimization Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The IsoDAR sterile-neutrino search calls for a high neutron flux from a 60 MeV proton beam striking a beryllium target, that flood a sleeve of highly-enriched 7Li, the beta-decay of the resulting 8Li giving the desired neutrinos for the veryshort ...

Analysis of Fracture Modes of Resistance Spot Welded Hot-Stamped Boron Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Fracture modes of resistance spot welded ultra-high strength hot-stamped boron steel via lap-shear test are different from that of the traditional advanced high strength steel due to the difference in geometrical size and material property of the spot ...

Macroscale superlubricity achieved via hydroxylated hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets with ionic liquid at steel/steel interface

open access: yesFriction, 2021
Macroscale superlubricity is a prospective strategy in modern tribology to dramatically reduce friction and wear of mechanical equipment; however, it is mainly studied for point-to-surface contact or special friction pairs in experiments.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Unraveling Quantitative Sensing Mechanism and Predictive Molecular Metrics for High‐Performance OFET Amine Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel chloro boron subphthalocyanine/polymer blend OFET sensor achieving 0.005 ppb limit of detection for ammonia at room temperature and high selectivity against similar amines. An original theoretical framework is proposed to describe the sensing mechanism, relating analyte molecular volume and Lewis basicity to sensor ...
