Microstructural alteration and oxidation behavior of boronized stainless steel AISI 440C after heat treatments [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2019
The martensitic stainless steel AISI 440C was boronized at a temperature of 950 °C for about 4 hr. Heat treatments at a temperature of 850 °C for about 2-8 hr were performed to eliminate the FeB phase of the boride layer.

Sliding wear behavior of PVD CrN and TiN coated austempered ductile iron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This work studies the sliding wear behavior of PVD coated austempered ductile iron samples. The effects of the substrate surface finishing method (grinding and polishing) and coating material (CrN and TiN) on the wear behavior are evaluated.

Effect of the solid precursors on the formation of nanosized TiBx powders in RF thermal plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Continuous synthesis of TiBx (x≈0.5-2) nanoparticles from various low cost solid precursors such as titanium and titanium dioxide admixed with boron and/or carbon in radiofrequency thermal plasma was studied. Feasibility of TiB2 formation was predicted

An investigation of boride layers growth kinetics on carbon steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
