Volume Conductivity of Borosilicate Glass
Journal of Applied Physics, 1962Through use of circuitry of variable RC time constants it has been shown that the slow exponential rise and decline of the charging current of the glass condenser between metal plates that do not exchange ions with the glass, in the past assumed to be characteristic of the glass, is an instrumental RC-conditioned time constant.

Surface Conductivity of Borosilicate Glass
Journal of Applied Physics, 1962An electron beam projected onto a clean glass surface in vacuum is blown up by deceleration caused by the high surface charge accumulated, thus spreading the beam on a very short time scale before arrival on the surface. Arriving at the surface, electrons are rapidly bound to lattice imperfections (not adsorbed gas atoms) presumably creating O− ions ...

Chemical Durability of Lanthanum‐Enriched Borosilicate Glass
International Journal of Applied Glass Science, 2013The role of lanthanum in the alteration kinetics at different degrees of reaction progress was investigated at 90°C and p H 7 by complementary chemical ( SIMS ), morphological ( SAXS ), and structural (

ARC Sealing of Borosilicate Glasses
1961Experimental evidence has been obtained which shows that, in certain instances, it may be preferable to use a high-voltage arc in lieu of the conventional flame for sealing in hard glass T-6 1/2 bulbs and stems. By use of this arc-sealing technique it is possible to heat a highly restricted area of glass, at the periphery of the part ...

Borosilicate glass foams from glass packaging residues
2014In the present study, pharmaceutical waste derived borosilicate glass (BSG) was investigated to fabricate foams without the addition of external foaming agents. Foaming was shown to occur when glass powder compacts were sintered at 950°C and above. It was found that foaming ability depended on the initial powder particle size and it was higher when the
