Small and medium-sized enterprises that borrow from "alternative" lenders in the United Kingdom: who are they?

open access: yesThe Journal of Credit Risk, 2021
Access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is an important condition of successful economic growth. Lending to SMEs is no longer restricted to banks: many new players (or alternative lenders) are entering the credit market. However, the research has not identified what kind of SMEs choose these alternative lenders.

Supramolecular Engineering of Fluid Pressure in Filamentous Hybrid Double Network Hydrogels for 3D Chondrocyte Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the water‐rich and interconnected biopolymer networks of native load‐bearing tissues, we disclose a connectable design for a hybrid filamentous supramolecular and covalent double network hydrogel generated through in situ photopolymerization.

The Role of Family Networks and Gender on Borrowing Behavior in Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, we use the nationally representative Indonesian Family Life Survey dataset (IFLS-3), to examine if access to loans from informal networks such as family and friends influences borrowing behavior in formal credit markets.

Structural Modulation of Charge Transfer in Donor–Acceptor Systems: Effects of Donor Type and Connectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A coherent phthalimide acceptor platform with planar (Cz—carbazole) and spiro‐type (SAF—spiroacridine fluorene) donors enables systematic tuning of donor geometry and coupling, driving the evolution of excited‐state topology from classical CT‐TADF and fluorescence/RTP to CT‐driven and LE‐assisted TADF with OLED efficiencies ≈ 36%.

Revisiting Target‐Aware de novo Molecular Generation with TarPass: Between Rational Design and Texas Sharpshooter

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TarPass provides a rigorous benchmark for target‐aware de novo molecular generation by jointly evaluating protein‐ligand interactions, molecular plausibility, and drug‐likeness on 18 well‐studied targets. Results show that current models often fail to consistently surpass random baseline in target‐specific enrichment, while post hoc multi‐tier virtual ...

The role of risk attitudes and expectations in household borrowing: evidence from Estonia

open access: yesBaltic Journal of Economics, 2022
This study investigates the role of risk attitudes and financial expectations in households’ borrowing behaviour. The central research question is whether risk aversion and optimistic expectations provide additional information beyond the main economic ...

Organic Thin‐Film Transistors for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) are reviewed for neuromorphic computing applications, highlighting their power‐efficient, and biological time‐scale operation. This article surveys OFET and OECT devices, compares them with memristors and CMOS, analyzes how fabrication parameters shape spike‐based metrics, proposes standardized characterization ...

Invasion and effective size of graph-structured populations. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2018
Population structure can strongly affect evolutionary dynamics. The most general way to describe population structures are graphs. An important observable on evolutionary graphs is the probability that a novel mutation spreads through the entire ...
