O rebanho nacional é predominantemente Bos taurus indicus,

The Polled Locus Maps to BTA1 in a Bos indicus x Bos taurus Cross [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 1996
Two hundred and nine reciprocal backcross and F2 progeny produced by embryo transfer from Angus (Bos taurus) and Brahman (Bos indicus) parents and their 60 parents and grandparents were utilized to localize the locus (POLL) responsible for the polled phenotype in a genetic map of bovine chromosome 1.

Long‐term changes in functional diversity and its implications for mammalian conservation and ecological restoration in a grassland ecosystem

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Paleontological data provide information on natural environments prior to human influence, which are useful for tracking changes in ecosystem functioning through time. During the Late Pleistocene, about 10% of terrestrial mammalian species were extinct in South America.

Alternative genotyping method for the single nucleotide polymorphism A2959G (AF159246) of the bovine CAST gene Método alternativo de genotipagem do polimorfismo de nucleotídeo único A2959G (AF159246) do gene CAST bovino

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2008
The objective of this work was to genotype the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) A2959G (AF159246) of bovine CAST gene by PCR-RFLP technique, and to report its use for the first time. For this, 147 Bos indicus and Bos taurus x Bos indicus animals were

Contrasting properties of predation and scavenging networks governed by megaherbivores in an African savannah

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
For the first time, predation and scavenging networks are directly compared within a single ecosystem. Using an 8‐year dataset of African mammals, including megaherbivores, this study reveals distinct structural rules and body mass constraints, providing a scalable framework for studying consumer–resource dynamics and ecosystem function.

Nutritional studies with Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus calves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
Milk substitute diets whose dry matter contained 10 %, 20% and 30ft added fat were fed to Bos taurus calves in Scotland and !3os indicus and Bos taurus calves in Trinidad.

Cardiovascular Plasticity and Adaptation of High‐Altitude Birds and Mammals

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This schematic depicts the cardiovascular adaptations of mammals and birds to high‐altitude hypoxia. It highlights key phenotypic changes in oxygen transport and cardiac responses, driven by molecular mechanisms including transcriptional regulation and genetic modifications.

Morphological dimorphism in the Y chromosome of "pé-duro" cattle in the Brazilian State of Piauí

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 1999
"Pé-duro" (hard foot) is a rare breed of beef cattle of European (Bos taurus taurus) origin, originated in northern and northeastern Brazil. Y chromosome morphology, outer genital elements and other phenotypic characteristics were examined in 75 "pé-duro"

Genetic Relationships Between Residual Gain and Economically Important Traits in Nellore Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable beef production requires identifying animals with superior feed efficiency to reduce environmental impact and production costs. This study aimed to estimate heritability and genetic correlations between residual gain (RG) and growth, reproductive, carcass and feed efficiency traits in Nellore cattle.
