(m, n)-string and D1-brane in stringy Newton-Cartan background

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
This paper is devoted to the analysis of (m, n)-string in stringy Newton-Cartan background. We start with the Hamiltonian constraint for (m, n)-string in general background and perform limiting procedure on metric and NSNS and Ramond-Ramond two form ...

Interpolating Action for Strings and Membranes - a Study of Symmetries in the Constrained Hamiltonian Approach

open access: yes, 2004
A master action for bosonic strings and membranes, interpolating between the Nambu--Goto and Polyakov formalisms, is discussed. The role of the gauge symmetries vis-\`{a}-vis reparametrization symmetries of the various actions is analyzed by a ...

On the gauge chosen by the bosonic open string [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2017
String theory gives S matrix elements om which is not possible to read any gauge information. Using factorization we go off shell in the simplest and most naive way and we read which are the vertices suggested by string. To compare with the associated Effective Field Theory it is natural to use color ordered vertices.

The heat flow for the full bosonic string [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Global Analysis and Geometry, 2016
We study harmonic maps from surfaces coupled to a scalar and a two-form potential, which arise as critical points of the action of the full bosonic string. We investigate several analytic and geometric properties of these maps and prove an existence result by the heat flow method.

Directly from H-flux to the family of three nonlocal R-flux theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
In this article we consider T-dualization of the 3D closed bosonic string in the weakly curved background — constant metric and Kalb-Ramond field with one nonzero component, B xy = Hz, where field strength H is infinitesimal.

The spontaneous compactification of the closed bosonic string [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2002
We argue that the higher space-time derivative terms that occur in closed bosonic string field theory are reminiscent of those found in the Landau theory of liquid-crystal transitions. We examine the lowest level approximation of the closed bosonic string and find evidence for the existence of a new vacuum that spontaneously breaks Lorentz and ...
