The current study aims to determine the dynamic vibration characteristics and structural earthquake performance of the approach viaducts of Bosphorus Suspension Bridge. Ortakoy viaduct at European continent and Beylerbeyi viaduct at Asian continent have a length of 231 and 235 m, and five spans and four spans, respectively.

ABSTRACTThe Third Bosphorus Bridge is the link of two continents, Asia and Europe, joining the two sides of Istanbul, Turkey. With its “hybrid” cable‐stayed/suspended configuration, its 322m A‐shaped towers and its Orthotropic Steel Deck, the widest (59m, 8 lanes of motorway and 2 lanes of railway) and heaviest in the world (each of the 59 segments ...

Transportation Risk Analysis (TRA) of Bosphorus Suspended Bridge Using Probabilistic Approach
Vulnerability, Uncertainty, and Risk, 2011The expected destructive earthquake of Istanbul in the near future urges the researches to determine the proper and effective measures in order to make sure that the Bosphorus related traffic is affected at the possible lowest level. By considering the fact that the traffic on this bridge corresponds to the busiest in Turkey, especially in the peak ...

CREATING URBAN GROWTH SIMULATION MODELS DRIVEN BY THE BOSPHORUS BRIDGES
In the past and today, Istanbul has always been one of the most important cities in the world because of its historical, cultural and natural features. This fact has caused increase in population and great transportation problem since 1950s. To surmount the transportation problem, two bridges were built and a third one is being constructed on the ...

Yavuz Sultan Selim (3rd Bosphorus) Bridge-Inspection and Maintenance
The Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge, also known as the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge, was opened to road traffic in August 2016. The stiffened suspension bridge, with a main span of 1408m, overall length 2250m and width 59.4m, is believed to be the first of its type. It is situated in a seismic region and exposed to a severe wind climate.

Wind tunnel study on the towers of the First Bosphorus Bridge
This paper deals with wind tunnel studies carried out on the First Bosphorus Bridge. Aim of the tests was the definition of the aerodynamic behavior of its towers. The aerodynamic forces on a single leg of the tower were measured in smooth flow condition using a sec- tional model.

Multi-point earthquake response of the Bosphorus Bridge to site-specific ground motions
The study presents the earthquake performance of the Bosphorus Bridge under multi-point earthquake excitation considering the spatially varying site-specific earthquake motions. The elaborate FE model of the bridge is firstly established depending on the new considerations of the used FEM software specifications, such as cable-sag effect, rigid link ...

Heavy metal concentrations of atmospheric ambient deposition dust in Istanbul-Bosphorus Bridge tollhouses [PDF]
Air Pollution emissions due to motor vehicle-related traffic on motorways are sent into the atmosphere. Along with many pollutants from motor vehicles because of fossile fuel usage, heavy metals are also emitted as particles with exhausted gas. Heavy metals are one of the important parameters among environmental pollution sources.
