Changing Rainfall Drives Locally Asynchronous Reproduction of Tropical Birds via Modular Trophic Pathways

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 3, March 2026.
In low‐latitude mountains, we found insectivorous bird communities switched from breeding before to after the dry season at a threshold in dry‐season insects. Localized breeding season reversal of insectivores across wet‐to‐dry gradients magnified short‐term effects of drought and contrasted with the seasonal stability of nectar‐fruit consumers.

Local and Landscape‐Level Environmental Conditions Drive Habitat Selection Across Terrestrial Mammal Species

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Animal movements are a fundamental process affecting communities and ecosystems. Quantifying habitat selection across species and habitats is key for understanding how animals respond to environmental change. Currently, we lack comparative studies that examine how habitat selection varies across species traits and landscapes.

Toward a global repository of insect traits (GRIT)

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 19, Issue 2, Page 253-267, March 2026.
Biodiversity loss is accelerating, yet insect conservation is hindered by the absence of a centralised, comprehensive trait database. We propose the GRIT, a FAIR, open‐access platform uniting datasets and collaborators worldwide. GRIT will harness advanced computational tools for trait acquisition and imputation, enabling large‐scale ecological ...

AVIFAUNA DE BOSQUE MADURO QUE FRECUENTA BOSQUES EN REGENERACIÓN

open access: yes, 2015
Regenerating forests may allow some species of mature forest birds can disperse and use resources such temporary habitat. Were identified mature forest bird species that frequent patches in regeneration by the point count method. Bird abundance was higher in the regenerating forest.

Wibana: How Bobonaza Runa and Forest Animals Know and Live With Each Other

open access: yesThe Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, Volume 31, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Runa women living along the Bobonaza river in the Ecuadorian Amazon raise captured forest animals, in a practice called wibana. Runa women are attentive to the particular ways the wiba (raised) animals interface with the world, and learn the wibas’ communicative repertoires and are able to “read” what wibas sense in the forest, including ...
