Reservoir‐Driven Neuromorphic Computing Based on Composite Rare‐Earth/Transition Metal Oxide Memristor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A defect‐engineered Ag/Gd2O3:Nb2O5/Pt rare earth composite oxide memristor enables stable multilevel reservoir states through pulse driven conductance modulation. Experimentally measured device responses are incorporated into a device aware reservoir computing framework for CIFAR‐100 image classification, highlighting the potential of rare earth ...

2D Skeletal Muscle Thin Film Actuators Enhance Efficiency of Biohybrid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D skeletal muscle thin film actuators generate millinewton‐scale forces and millimeter‐scale strokes while remaining functional for over 30 days. Their force density is 20‐fold higher than 3D skeletal muscle actuators, enabling multi‐fin robots with tunable speed and multidirectional steering.

THE BOTTLENECK CYCLE

open access: yes, 2008
The bottleneck cycle refers to the iterative process of finding a performance bottleneck, eliminating it, and finding the next one. The goal is that eventually the bottleneck falls outside of your application’s performance requirements.
