Behaviour of cement-treated MSWI bottom ash
Waste Management, 2000MSWI bottom ash is the residue of combustion. The use of bottom ash in road construction is wide spread. French legislation forbids the disposal of resuable waste in special landfill from 2002. Moreover, "arrêté du 9 mai 1994" provides environmental criteria (leaching threshold, etc.), and evaluates this material according to utilisation in road ...

Toxicity of waste gasification bottom ash leachate
Waste Management, 2012Toxicity of waste gasification bottom ash leachate from landfill lysimeters (112 m(3)) was studied over three years. The leachate of grate incineration bottom ash from a parallel setup was used as reference material. Three aquatic organisms (bioluminescent bacteria, green algae and water flea) were used to study acute toxicity.

BOTTOM ASH UTILIZATION IN RECLAMATION OF DISTURBED TERRAINS [PDF]
Utilization of different kind of waste in reclamation of disturbed terrains is main a part of Circular Economy concept. The use of the waste gives an opportunity to reduce the amount of generated waste and the areas disturbed by their disposal. All of it is key point for the conservation of environmental. Bottom ash utilization like a soil improver can

The recycling of MSW incinerator bottom ash by sintering
Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 2003In recognition of the trend toward an increased use of bottom ash as construction material, the authors have investigated the feasibility of recovering bottom ash for use as aggregates, by sintering size-fractioned MSW incinerator bottom ash (particle size less than 1.41 mm and between 4.76-1.41 mm) at 400-1,000°C for 60-240 min, and then determining ...

Use of Incinerator Bottom Ash for Frit Production
Journal of Industrial Ecology, 2010Summary This article presents the results of an experimental activity aimed at investigating the technical feasibility and the environmental performance of using municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash to produce glass frit for ceramic glaze (glaze frit). The process includes an industrial pretreatment of bottom ash that renders

Accelerated carbonation for treatment of MSWI bottom ash
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2006Leaching of heavy metals from MSWI bottom ash exceeds some of the Flemish limit values for recycling the material as granular construction application. In particular, leaching of Cu, Zn and Pb often exceeds the limit value, with Cu being the most critical. In order to recycle bottom ash, treatment is therefore required.

Performance of bricks made using fly ash and bottom ash
Construction and Building Materials, 2015Abstract This paper presents the findings of investigation carried out on bricks made using fly ash and bottom ash using a non-conventional method. Bricks were cast using self-compacting mixtures of bottom ash, fly ash and cement eliminating both pressing and firing.

Effects of fly ash and bottom ash on the frictional behavior of composites
Fuel, 2002Immense quantities of coal combustion by-products are produced every year, and only a small fraction of them are currently utilized. Our recent work has focused on developing value-added products especially from fly ash, bottom ash, and flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber sludge.
