Large-Scale, Bottom-Up Synthesis of Binary Metal-Organic Framework Nanosheets for Efficient Water Oxidation.

Angewandte Chemie, 2019
Ultrathin metal-organic framework (MOF) nanosheets (NSs) offer potential for many applications, but the synthetic strategies are largely limited to top-down, low-yield exfoliation methods.

Tracing nearshore bottom currents with sea-bed drifters

Marine Geology, 1977
Abstract The experience acquired during 36 Woodhead drifter releases performed along the Tuscan coast is briefly reported. Without a costly apparatus, residual current patterns may be easily obtained with this method. Care should be taken, however, when sediment dispersal patterns are required, since weak currents which drag drifters slowly, displace

Current practice in designing bottom‐entering fermentor drives

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1983
AbstractTop entering drives have become almost traditional for fermentor applications, however bottom entering drives have distinct features that merit consideration. The prinicipal advantages of bottom drives are delineated and design criteria discussed. Illustrations based on experience with several hundred fermentors ranging in power from fractional

Bottom current measurements in the labrador sea

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1974
Twenty-one spot current meter measurements document a high-velocity bottom flow in places greater than 20 cm/s around the periphery of the Labrador basin and Greenland continental margin. These data are consistent with previous hydrographic and current measurements in the area.

Lock-exchange gravity currents over rough bottoms

Environmental Fluid Mechanics, 2016
In nature, density driven currents often flow over or within a bottom roughness: a sea breeze encountering tall buildings, a shallow flow encountering aquatic vegetation, or a dense oceanic current flowing over a rough bottom. Laboratory experiments investigating the mechanisms by which bottom roughness enhances or inhibits entrainment and dilution in ...

Longshore Currents, Upwelling and Bottom Topography

Journal of Physical Oceanography, 1974
Abstract The effect of shelf-like bottom topography on a steady, linear, stratified, three-dimensional model of coastal upwelling is examined. It is shown that the presence of the bottom slope 1) reduces the role of the lower Ekman layer in the upwelling mass balance, and 2) introduces a barotropic boundary layer which can, depending on a balance of ...

Bottom Shear Stress Under Wave-Current Interaction

Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2008
Abstract The present work adopts the COHERENS-SWAN model developed by the first author through coupling three-dimensional hydrodynamic model (COHERENS) and third-generation wave model (SWAN). Inside the COHERENS-SWAN, the SWAN is regarded as a subroutine and the time- and space-varying current velocity and surface elevation are obtained from the ...

Dense Bottom Currents

1986
A dense bottom current or a light roof current is the flow created by a source of mass, momentum, and buoyancy flowing into an ambient fluid in such a way that the flow is bounded by the fixed wall and the interface. The dense bottom currents and light roof currents are primarily driven by buoyancy forces.

A retrievable bottom-mounted current meter

Ocean Engineering, 1973
Abstract The design and use of a lightweight, retrievable, bottom-mounted current meter for taking current measurements to ocean depths of 1800 m are described.

Dense Bottom Currents in Rotating Ocean

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1980
A dense bottom current is the flow created by a source of mass, momentum, and buoyancy flowing into an ambient fluid in such a way that the flow is bounded by the fixed wall and the interface. The dense bottom currents are primarily driven by buoyancy forces (reduced gravity).
