MOTIVATION IN WORK [PDF]

open access: yes
Studying motivation and the motives that make people act in a certain way has a fundamental importance in the management of human resources. The whole human behaviour has a cause, which is a consequence of hereditary combination and development.

Globalization in Question: Hierarchies, States and Gender. NCRE Online Paper No. 01/03 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
[From the Introduction] Globalization is the pervasive buzzword of the day as we enter the new millennium. From the BBC's Reith lecturers to first-year undergraduates at Bradford University, almost everybody on the ground has a pretty shrewd idea of what

Sharp Diamond Needles for Single‐Photon Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
We study the morphological evolution of single‐crystal diamond needles oxidized at 650–700 °C. Electron microscopy and photoluminescence reveal temperature‐ and time‐dependent sharpening, length reduction, and surface modifications affecting tip properties.

PWC-Net: CNNs for Optical Flow Using Pyramid, Warping, and Cost Volume

open access: yes, 2018
We present a compact but effective CNN model for optical flow, called PWC-Net. PWC-Net has been designed according to simple and well-established principles: pyramidal processing, warping, and the use of a cost volume. Cast in a learnable feature pyramid,

Sleep Alters the Velocity of Physiological Brain Pulsations in Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep alters I/CSF oscillatory flow, driven by increased respiratory (29%) and vasomotor pulsation (21%) velocities, while cardiovascular pulsations decreased by (22%). Velocity is quantified using optical flow analysis of MREG data. Spectral power increases alongside these pulsations (spatial correlation, r = 0.35 and r = 0.39, respectively ...

Deformable Part Models are Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2014
Deformable part models (DPMs) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are two widely used tools for visual recognition. They are typically viewed as distinct approaches: DPMs are graphical models (Markov random fields), while CNNs are "black-box" non ...

L’accès du plus grand nombre aux services essentiels ne se fera pas sans une implication du secteur privé et sans une tarification adéquate de ces services

open access: yesField Actions Science Reports, 2012
La couverture, via le secteur privé, des besoins en services de base (eau, énergie, services financiers, logement,..) des populations des pays en développement est une nécessité si l’on veut essayer de faire reculer la pauvreté.

Below the Radar: What does Innovation in Emerging Economies have to offer other Low Income Economies? [PDF]

open access: yes
Between 1970 and 2000 the proportion of global R&D occurring in low income economies rose from two percent to more than 20 percent. However, this rising commitment to R&D does not easily translate into the emergence of a family of innovations meeting the
