Estimators of bottom reflectance spectra
International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1992Estimators of in situ bottom spectral reflectance are calculated from multi-station optical field data gathered with standard instrumentation from different sites. These spectra are then compared to reflectance spectra measured in the laboratory of the bottom sediments collected in the field for the stations at these different sites.

Abstract This communication presents an investigation of a three zone solar pond with a diffusely reflecting bottom. The dynamic performance and its optimization as a large scale solar energy collection and long term storage system have been discussed. Numerical computations, corresponding to the data of solar radiation and ambient air temperature of

Acoustic inversion of bottom reflectivity and bottom sound-speed profile
IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 1996This paper applies a full-field technique to invert bottom sound profile and bottom reflectivity from simulated acoustic data in a shallow water environment. Bottom sound-speed profile and bottom reflectivity have been traditionally estimated using seismic reflection/refraction techniques when acoustic ray paths and travel time can be identified and ...

Measurement of bottom-reflected sound in bottom-limited propagation environment
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2016Abstract To study the bottom reflection of underwater acoustic sound in a bottom-limited propagation environment, an experiment was conducted using four transmitting sounds in the form of a continuous wave from 1 to 6 kHz. The site of the experiment was a continental shelf region off the east coast of Korea where the bottom was composed ...

Influence of bottom depths and bottom types on water surface reflectance
Remote Sensing of the Ocean, Sea Ice, Coastal Waters, and Large Water Regions 2018, 2018Two flow irradiance model solutions are tested using various bottom depths and hyperspectral in-situ bottom reflectance signatures for Elkhorn Coral, Bleached Reef, Sand, Sand and Seagrass, and Turtle Grass. Bottom reflectance signatures are used to simulate a water surface reflectance signatures from analytical solutions that can account for the ...

Estimation of in-situ bottom-reflectance spectra
SPIE Proceedings, 1990Estimators of in situ bottom reflectivity are compared to laboratory measured spectra for several sites. Statistics are compiled on the relative fits of the estimators spectral curves to the laboratory data. A best estimator is selected based on these statistics.

Signal Distortion Caused by Bottom Reflection
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1966The acoustic theory for the reflection of a single-frequency plane wave from a fluid layer lying between two semiinfinite fluid media, where the layer and the bottom medium are subject to attenuation, is reviewed. Applying the experimental fact that the attenuation is proportional to the first power of frequency to this theoretical model, it is shown ...

Wave Dissipation and Reflection on Muddy Bottoms
Coastal Structures 2003, 2004This paper presents a new method to separate damped incident and reflected waves propagating over a muddy bottom and to estimate associated dissipation ratios from simultaneous recordings of wave profiles. On the basis of the resolution results, the reflection coefficient of the structure is estimated.
