Geology and Bouguer gravity anomalies of the Gulf of Tonkin and vicinity

Energy, 1981
Abstract Outcrops of rock types around the Gulf of Tonkin range in age from Cambrian to Recent. The basement complex of the Gulf of Tonkin consists of Carboniferous carbonates and Lower Paleozoic metamorphic rocks. The Gulf of Tonkin and vicinity are comprised of three tectonic units: 1. (1) the Caledonian South China-North Vietnam Foldbelt, 2.

The regional meaning of the Bouguer gravity anomalies in the Mediterranean

Journal of Geodynamics, 1990
Abstract In the qualitative interpretation of gravity anomalies, the first rule is to try to separate the long-wave anomalies from the short-wave ones: in a relative sense, the former are due to deeper mass variations, the latter to shallower ones. Main emphasis will be given here to long-wave phenomena: that is, to the regional anomalies.

Bouguer gravity anomalies for terrain modeling

2012
Gravity anomalies have been applied in geodesy to determine the geoid, and the associated composition and crustal properties of the earth. Applications of solution of the gravity inversion problems include the study of crustal dynamics as a result of the extraction of fluids in the form of oil, gas and water from subsidence-prone sedimentary rock ...

Towards An Alpine Bouguer Gravity Anomaly Map

2019
AlpArray Gravity Research Group (AAGRG) compiles a homogeneous gravity data set across the Alpine area, creates related gravity products and uses them for studies from small to regional to continental scales, as well as for joint inversion with other datasets.
