Over the past 50 years, the science of pediatric rheumatology has grown exponentially due to an expansion in the understanding of complex rheumatic conditions and a surge in novel targeted therapeutics. Physician‐scientists in the field of pediatric rheumatology have played major roles in these advancements that have improved the care of children ...

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Boundary behavior ofμ-homeomorphisms
Israel Journal of Mathematics, 2004Let \(f\) be a sense preserving homeomorphism of the upper half plane \(H\) into \({\mathbb C}\) satisfying the Beltrami equation \(f_{\overline z} = \mu (z)f_z\) with \(| \mu| _{\infty} < 1\) in every compact subset of \(H\). The authors present conditions such that \(f(H) \neq C\) and \(f\) has a homeomorphic extension to \(\overline H\).

Risk Management in the Practice of Behavior Therapy: Boundaries and Behavior
American Journal of Psychotherapy, 1992Behavior therapy represents a treatment modality widely utilized by clinicians but to date insufficiently examined from the risk-management standpoint. Given that the determination of negligence is dependent on the role of the therapist as proximate cause of the adverse outcome and on the availability of an accepted standard of care from which ...

ON BOUNDARY BEHAVIOR OF TYPICAL MAPPINGS
Russian Academy of Sciences. Izvestiya Mathematics, 1995Let \(D^2\) denote the unit disk in the complex plane, and let \(H^\infty (D^2)\) denote the collection of all bounded analytic functions in \(D^2\). For \(f \in H^\infty (D^2)\), let \(E (f) = \{\zeta \in \partial D^2\): \(f\) does not have a radial limit at \(\zeta\}\). A function \(f \in H^\infty (D^2)\) is called a typical function if for each arc \

Boundary Behavior of Poisson Integrals on Boundaries of Symmetric Spaces
Journal of Lie Theory, 2011It is well-known that a complex valued function on a bounded symmetric domain \(X=G/K\) satisfying the associated Hua system has an \(L^p\)-Poisson integral representation over the Shilov boundary of \(X\), if and only if it satisfies a Hardy type condition on a family of \(K\)-orbits; the paper extends this result to any boundary component of a ...

Behaviorism, Interbehaviorism and the Boundaries of a Science of Behavior
European Journal of Behavior Analysis, 2004In the history of behaviorist psychology, one controversial issue has been the independence of a behavioral science, and in particular its relation to biological sciences. In this article, the boundaries of a science of behavior are discussed in the light of B. F. Skinner’s and J. R.

Rate of chaotic mixing and boundary behavior
Physical Review E, 2013We discuss rigorous results on the rate of mixing for an idealized model of a class of fluid mixing device. These show that the decay of correlations of a scalar field is governed by the presence of boundaries in the domain, and in particular by the behavior of the modeled fluid at such boundaries.
