Meaningful boundaries create boundary conditions for control

Psychological Research, 2021
Recent research demonstrated that control states learned via experience in inducer locations were retrieved in novel, unbiased (i.e., diagnostic) locations positioned nearby. Such transfer has been observed even in the presence of a visual boundary (a line) separating inducer and diagnostic locations.

Boundary Control Systems

2020
In this chapter the semigroup theory is applied to systems when the control action is exercised on the boundary of the spatial domain where the system evolves. The general theory is illustrated by one-dimensional heating systems and the null controllability of the multidimensional heating systems.

Exact Boundary Controllability and Non-exact Boundary Controllability

2019
In this chapter, we will study the exact boundary controllability and the non-exact boundary controllability for the coupled system (III) of wave equations with coupled Robin boundary ...

Controls and Boundary Reinstatement

Australian Surveyor, 1999
The imposition of additional constraints to improve network accuracy has often been empirically investigated. One recent example is Stock, Taylor and Hannigan’s (1998) study on rural reinstatement. Yet, the problem of induction remains since no amount of empirical cases can lead one to logically conclude that the imposition of additional control is ...

Boundary Control

2013
The democratization of a national government is only a first step in diffusing democracy throughout a country's territory. Even after a national government is democratized, subnational authoritarian 'enclaves' often continue to deny rights to citizens of local jurisdictions. Gibson offers new theoretical perspectives for the study of democratization in
