An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Vibration Boundary Control for a One-Dimensional Flexible Beam System With Restricted Input

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper studies a boundary control problem of a 1-D flexible beam. The objective is to design an efficient boundary controller to suppress the undesired vibration of the 1-D flexible beam with restricted input. A novel boundary controller is developed

Boundary Control of a Vibrating String Subject to Input Saturation and Output Constraint

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper presents a control framework of a vibrating flexible string system subject to input saturation and output constraint. By integrating the backstepping technique and Lyapunov theory, a smooth function, a Nussbaum function, a barrier function ...

Global sensitivity analysis for the boundary control of an open channel

open access: yes, 2014
The goal of this paper is to solve the global sensitivity analysis for a particular control problem. More precisely, the boundary control problem of an open-water channel is considered, where the boundary conditions are defined by the position of a down ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Vibration Control for a Flexible Timoshenko Arm Subject to Constrained Input

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper copes with the vibration reduction and angle positioning issues of a flexible Timoshenko arm system by developing a boundary vibration control strategy. Considering the influence of nonlinear input constraints, constrained boundary controllers

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Null controllability of Chafee–Infante equation under discrete-time point measurements

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis
Nonlinear system is one of the main research objects in cybernetics, and it is the main theme of cybernetics in the 21st century. Recently, the control of the reaction–diffusion equation has been widely studied, but the nonlinear reaction–diffusion ...
