Adverse-Pressure-Gradient effects on Turbulent Boundary Layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Wall-bounded turbulence is present in many relevant fluid-flow problems such as the flow around wings, land and sea vehicles, or in turbines, compressors, etc. Simplified scenarios, such as the zero-pressure-gradient (ZPG) turbulent boundary layers (TBL)

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Evaluating Scale‐Aware Boundary Layer Similarity Functions and Their Mechanisms in Tropical Cyclone Modeling Using Idealized Large‐Eddy Simulations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Accurate representation of scale‐aware boundary layer similarity functions at gray‐zone resolutions is crucial for advancing boundary layer schemes.

On optical imaging through aircraft turbulent boundary layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Optical resolution quality as affected by aircraft turbulent boundary layers is analyzed. Wind-tunnel data was analyzed to obtained the variation of boundary layer turbulence scale length and mass density rms fluctuations with Mach number.

SNUPN‐Related Muscular Dystrophy: Novel Phenotypic, Pathological and Functional Protein Insights

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SNUPN‐related muscular dystrophy or LGMDR29 is a new entity that covers from a congenital or childhood onset pure muscular dystrophy to more complex phenotypes combining neurodevelopmental features, cataracts, or spinocerebellar ataxia. So far, 12 different variants have been described.

Cubic-like Features of I–V Relations via Classical Poisson–Nernst–Planck Systems Under Relaxed Electroneutrality Boundary Conditions

open access: yesAxioms
We focus on higher-order matched asymptotic expansions of a one-dimensional classical Poisson–Nernst–Planck system for ionic flow through membrane channels with two oppositely charged ion species under relaxed electroneutrality boundary conditions.

Parametric study of relaminarization of turbulent boundary layers on nozzle walls [PDF]

open access: yes
By means of comparisons between theoretical predictions and experimental data, the accuracy of a boundary procedure to predict the effect of large streamwise accelerations upon initially turbulent boundary layers is assessed. The boundary layer procedure

Diffusion Tractography Biomarker for Epilepsy Severity in Children With Drug‐Resistant Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To develop a novel deep‐learning model of clinical DWI tractography that can accurately predict the general assessment of epilepsy severity (GASE) in pediatric drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) and test if it can screen diverse neurocognitive impairments identified through neuropsychological assessments.
