Entropy and topology for manifolds with boundaries
In this work a deep relation between topology and thermodynamical features of manifolds with boundaries is shown. The expression for the Euler characteristic, through the Gauss- Bonnet integral, and the one for the entropy of gravitational instantons are proposed in a form which makes the relation between them self-evident.

Fractional Skyrmion Tubes in Chiral‐Interfaced 3D Magnetic Nanowires
In chiral 3D helical magnetic nanowires, the coupling between the geometric and magnetic chirality provides a way to create topological spin states like vortex tubes. Here, it is demonstrated how the breaking of this coupling in interfaced 3D nanowires of opposite chirality leads to even more complex topological spin states, such as fractional ...

Exploring Landmark Placement Strategies for Topology-Based Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks
In topology-based localization, each node in a network computes its hop-count distance to a finite number of reference nodes, or “landmarksâ€Â.

Experimental and Theoretical Confirmation of Covalent Bonding in α‐Pu
From a combination of Reverse Monte Carlo dynamic rigid body fitting to the pair distribution functional and novel density functional approaches, the existence of covalent bonding is confirmed in α‐plutonium alongside other bonding types (i.e. mixed bonding schemes).

We investigate the connection between two classical models of phase transition phenomena, the (discrete size, Markov chain or infinite set of ODE) Becker-Döring equations and the (continuous size, PDE) Lifshitz-Slyozov equation.

High Thermoelectric Performance in Low‐Cost Cu8SiSxSe6‐x Argyrodite
This study discovers the great potential of Cu8SiSxSe6‐x argyrodites as new, low‐cost, Te‐free thermoelectric materials. The proposed defect scheme suppresses the phase transition, enhances the weighted mobility and optimizes the grain boundary contacts.

A distributional representation of strip analytic functions
A strip analytic function converging in the D′ topology to certain boundary values (from the interior of the strip) is represented as the difference of two generalized Cauchy integrals.

We consider a ‘contracting boundary’ of a proper geodesic metric space consisting of equivalence classes of geodesic rays that behave like geodesics in a hyperbolic space. We topologize this set via the Gromov product, in analogy to the topology of the ...
