Persistent topology of decision boundaries

Topological signal processing, especially persistent homology, is a growing field of study for analyzing sets of data points that has been heretofore applied to unlabeled data. In this work, we consider the case of labeled data and examine the topology of the decision boundary separating different labeled classes.

The Topological Structure of Grain Boundaries

It is shown that grain boundaries are quasiperodic tilings made of inflatable sequences of structural units. A general grain boundary is a quasiperodic grid of dislocations with the same inflation multiplier (a quadratic irrational) in every direction.

Values on the Topological Boundary of Tubes

Holomorphic functions in tube domains in ℂn which generalize the Hardy Hp functions are shown to have boundary values on the topological boundary of the tube. The boundary values are obtained restrictedly or unrestrictedly in Lp and in the distribution space \( {\text {K}}_{1}^{\prime}\).
