The Existence of Countably Many Positive Solutions for Nonlinear nth-Order Three-Point Boundary Value Problems

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2009
We consider the existence of countably many positive solutions for nonlinear nth-order three-point boundary value problem u(n)(t)+a(t)f(u(t))=0, t∈(0,1), u(0)=αu(η), u′(0)=⋯=u(n−2)(0)=0, u(1)=βu(η),

Global dynamics for an SVEIR epidemic model with diffusion and nonlinear incidence rate

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2022
In this paper, we investigate an SVEIR epidemic model with reaction–diffusion and nonlinear incidence. We establish the well-posedness of the solutions and the basic reproduction number R 0 $\mathfrak{R}_{0}$ .

On uniqueness of recovering the convolution integro-differential operator from the spectrum of its non-smooth one-dimensional perturbation

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2018
We consider a one-dimensional perturbation of the convolution integro-differential operator of arbitrary order on a finite interval. The inverse problem of recovering the convolution component from the spectrum is studied, provided that the perturbation ...

Regular approximation of singular Sturm–Liouville problems with eigenparameter dependent boundary conditions

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2020
In this paper we consider singular Sturm–Liouville problems with eigenparameter dependent boundary conditions and two singular endpoints. The spectrum of such problems can be approximated by those of the inherited restriction operators constructed.

Development and Implementation of a Disease‐Targeted Storybook as a Clinical Tool for Children With Acute Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although significant progress has been made in childhood leukemia survival, healthcare providers, and caregivers often face challenges in explaining this disease to patients. Disease‐targeted storybooks have been proposed as a tool to facilitate the understanding of diagnoses and treatment.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

The therapeutic opportunities and pitfalls of using iron ion chelators to treat neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although too much iron in the brain promotes neurodegeneration, iron ion chelators have had mixed effects in clinical trials. This review explains why; some chelators do not render the iron redox‐inactive (e.g., L1) whereas others do (e.g., desferrioxamine).
