Nonparametric bounds on the returns to language skills [PDF]
AbstractThis paper applies the theoretical literature on nonparametric bounds on treatment effects to the estimation of how limited English proficiency (LEP) affects wages and employment opportunities for Hispanic workers in the United States. I analyse the identifying power of several weak assumptions on treatment response and selection, and stress ...

ABSTRACT Objective We aim to comprehensively analyze how regional tumor and edema characteristics are associated with clinical presentations and survival outcomes in a large cohort of glioblastoma patients. Methods Patients with IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma who received brain MRI from 2010 to 2023 were included.

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

On two-way communication in cellular automata with a fixed number of cells [PDF]
The effect of adding two-way communication to k cells one-way cellular automata (kC-OCAs) on their size of description is studied. kC-OCAs are a parallel model for the regular languages that consists of an array of k identical deterministic finite ...

This article presents the NFDI‐MatWerk Ontology (MWO), a Basic Formal Ontology‐based framework for interoperable research data management in materials science and engineering (MSE). Covering consortium structures, research data management resources, services, and instruments, MWO enables semantic integration, Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and ...

Sublinearly space bounded iterative arrays [PDF]
Iterative arrays (IAs) are a, parallel computational model with a sequential processing of the input. They are one-dimensional arrays of interacting identical deterministic finite automata.

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Languages with Bounded Multiparty Communication Complexity
We study languages with bounded communication complexity in the multiparty "input on the forehead model" with worst-case partition. In the two-party case, languages with bounded complexity are exactly those recognized by programs over commutative monoids [19]. This can be used to show that these languages all lie in shallow ACC0. In contrast, we use

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...
