Homeomorphisms of Bounded Variation

Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 2007
The main result of the paper is that if \(\Omega, \Omega' \subset \mathbb R^2\) are open and \(f:\Omega \to \Omega'\) is a homeomorphism, then \(f\in BV_{loc}(\Omega,\mathbb R^2)\) if and only if \(f^{-1}\in BV_{loc}(\Omega',\mathbb R^2)\). It is shown that this result does not extend to the case of \(\mathbb R^n\) with \(n\geq 3\).

Variational bounds for the triton

Physical Review C, 1987
Variational bounds for the Reid soft core and Argonne V/sub 14/ potentials are extended through the J = 8 partial waves of those nucleon-nucleon forces using Faddeev wave functions calculated with the Jless than or equal to4 partial waves. We verify our previous conjecture that the additional components add roughly 10 keV to the binding energy, and ...

Functions of bounded variation and polarization

Mathematische Nachrichten, 2009
AbstractIt is known that, ifuis a real valued function on ℝNof bounded variation, then its total variation decreases under polarization. In this paper we identify the difference between the total variation ofuand that one of its polaruΠ(© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Functionals of Bounded Frechet Variation

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1949
In a series of papers which will follow this paper the authors will present a theory of functionals which are bilinear over a product A × B of two normed vector spaces A and B. This theory will include a representation theory, a variational theory, and a spectral theory.

Selections of Bounded Variation

Journal of Applied Analysis, 2004
The paper represents a survey of recent results obtained by the author. These results concern the problem of the existence of selectors wich inherit the properties of a multivalued mapping of one variable with compact values in a metric space. The properties considered are the boundedness of Jordan, essential or generalized variation, Lipschitz or ...

Functions of Bounded Variation

2000
Abstract This chapter is entirely devoted to functions of bounded variation and sets of finite perimeter. We have collected several results scattered in the literature, from classical ones up to recent developments, trying to give a self-contained and unified treatment of this topic.

Protein-Bound Iodine Variations

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1968
It has been reported and confirmed that Marshall Islanders have protein-bound iodine (PBI) values about 2 μg/deciliter higher than Americans. In the present study, approximately 2,500 PBI values obtained from various populations of the Western Pacific were grouped on ethnic and geographic bases to see if other populations showed this elevation ...

Off-shell variational bounds

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1984
The Schwinger variational principle is shown to lead to upper and lower bounds for the off-shell scattering amplitude for local potentials satisfying integral 0Ar mod V(r)dr< infinity and integral Ainfinity mod V(r) mod dr< infinity .

Functions of Bounded Variation

2015
We know that if f is integrable, then the lower and upper sums of every partition F approximate its integral from below and above, and so the difference between either sum and the integral is at most \(S_{F} - s_{F} =\varOmega _{F}\), the oscillatory sum corresponding to F.
