The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Wartime Opportunities in Legal Aid Work [PDF]

open access: yes, 1943
We present the basic idea and setup for some recent methods for System Identification, that also deliver error bounds to the user. In particular, we look at Stochastic Embedding, Set Membership Identification and Model Error Modelling. We review and test

Improved Bounds for Testing Juntas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the problem of testing functions for the property of being a k-junta (i.e., of depending on at most kvariables). Fischer, Kindler, Ron, Safra, and Samorodnitsky (J. Comput. Sys. Sci., 2004) showed that $\tilde{O}(k^2)/\epsilon$ queries are sufficient to test k-juntas, and conjectured that this bound is optimal for non-adaptive testing ...

Lower Bounds on Query Complexity for Testing Bounded-Degree CSPs [PDF]

open access: yes2011 IEEE 26th Annual Conference on Computational Complexity, 2011
In this paper, we consider lower bounds on the query complexity for testing CSPs in the bounded-degree model. First, for any ``symmetric'' predicate $P:{0,1}^{k} \to {0,1}$ except \equ where $k\geq 3$, we show that every (randomized) algorithm that distinguishes satisfiable instances of CSP(P) from instances $(|P^{-1}(0)|/2^k- )$-far from ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Bounds on eigenvalues of real symmetric interval matrices for αBB method in global optimization [PDF]

open access: yesYugoslav Journal of Operations Research
In this paper, we investigate bounds on eigenvalues of real symmetric interval matrices. We present a method that computes bounds on eigenvalues of real symmetric interval matrices.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Admissibility and nonuniformly hyperbolic sets

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2016
We obtain a characterization of two classes of dynamics with nonuniformly hyperbolic behavior in terms of an admissibility property. Namely, we consider exponential dichotomies with respect to a sequence of norms and nonuniformly hyperbolic sets. We note
