Flows of a viscous incompressible liquid with a thermocapillary boundary are investigated numerically on the basis of the mathematical model that consists of the Oberbeck-Boussinesq approximation of the Navier-Stokes equations, kinematic and dynamic ...

Abstract Melt migration in partially molten rocks is commonly described by porous flow models controlled by the hydro‐mechanical compaction length, which effectively explains melt extraction at mid‐ocean ridges. However, this framework cannot account for the paradoxical accumulation of small melt fractions into rhythmic leucosome–melanosome bands in ...

Great Meteor Seamount Circulation Revisited: Insights Into Cold‐Water Coral Habitat Potential
Abstract Seamounts play a crucial role in shaping deep‐sea ecosystem structure, influencing ocean circulation, enhancing biological productivity, and supporting diverse marine life. The Great Meteor Seamount (GMS), is the largest seamount in the North Atlantic and a key ecological feature in the regional network of the Protected Areas of the Azores ...

How Managed Realignment Modifies Salt Intrusion in Short Estuaries
Abstract The global loss of intertidal habitats undermines ecosystem services. To restore ecological value and enhance flood protection, managed realignment sites (MRSs) are increasingly implemented along estuaries worldwide. At the same time, estuarine salt intrusion intensifies due to climate change and anthropogenic impacts.

Abstract Eddy‐resolving numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the effects of density contrast between the confluent flows on hydrodynamics, coherent structures and mixing downstream of the confluence between the Negro and Solimões Rivers, Brazil, which is characterized by both a large discharge (>100,000 m3/s) and a large aspect‐ratio (W/D

Submesoscale Energy Cycle in a Coupled Ocean‐Atmosphere Simulation of the Gulf Stream
Abstract This study examines the Gulf Stream energy cycle, with emphasis on the submesoscale pathway relative to other energy sinks. Using a high‐resolution coupled air–sea simulation (CROCO–WRF), we construct a Lorenz diagram based on temporally and spatially separated submesoscale and background energy budgets.

Pulsating Fronts in a 2D Reactive Boussinesq System [PDF]
We consider a reactive Boussinesq system with no stress boundary conditions in a periodic domain which is unbounded in one direction. Specifically, we couple the reaction-advection-diffusion equation for the temperature, $T$, and the linearized Navier ...

Turbulent Mixing and Dissipation Around Rough Seamounts
Abstract Seamounts are critical components of the global ocean energy budget, contributing significantly to turbulent dissipation through their interaction with large‐scale flows. However, most previous numerical investigations used smoothed bathymetry that omits small‐scale topographic variability. We use turbulence‐resolving large‐eddy simulations to
