IGyTheM: Integrating Geodynamics With Thermodynamics Using Machine Learning

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Achieving a comprehensive understanding of mantle convection requires integrated models that couple mantle dynamics with thermodynamic properties. Although advances in computational geodynamics have substantially improved our ability to simulate the underlying physical processes, incorporating thermodynamics into self‐consistent geodynamic ...

The Impact of Fronts and Eddies Under Various Melt Conditions on Antarctic Ice Shelves

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract Ocean eddies are observed beneath Antarctic ice shelves, yet their role in regulating basal melting remains unclear. We use nonhydrostatic Large‐Eddy Simulations that resolve eddies and boundary‐layer turbulence to examine a baroclinically unstable salinity front that breaks into eddies.

Boussinesq/Boussinesq systems for internal waves with a free surface, and the KdV approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study here some asymptotic models for the propagation of internal and surface waves in a two-fluid system. We focus on the so-called long wave regime for one-dimensional waves, and consider the case of a flat bottom. Following the method presented in [

Machine‐Learning Enhanced Parametric Reynolds‐Averaged Navier‐Stokes Equations at the Full‐ and Reduced‐Order Levels

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 17, 15 September 2026.
ABSTRACT In this contribution, we focus on the Reynolds‐averaged Navier‐Stokes (RANS) models and their exploitation to build reliable reduced‐order models to further accelerate predictions for real‐time applications and many‐query scenarios. Specifically, we investigate how machine learning can be employed to enhance the predictive capabilities of the ...

Boussinesq-Green-Naghdi Rotational Water Wave Theory

open access: yes, 2014
A coastal ocean hydrodynamics modelling system has been created, with potential for future improvement. The system consists of a wave generation-absorbing system which initiates the exact desired hydrodynamic condition for computation; Boussinesq-Geen ...

Natural convection flow near a vertical plate that applies a shear stress to a viscous fluid. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The unsteady natural convection flow of an incompressible viscous fluid near a vertical plate that applies an arbitrary shear stress to the fluid is studied using the Laplace transform technique. The fluid flow is due to both the shear and the heating of

Numerical Aspects of Turbulent Blood Flow in Aorta: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
The aim of this systematic review is to systematize the methodological approaches used in the state‐of‐the‐art literature, including the choice of turbulence models, validation methods, as well as the identification of the main hemodynamic parameters characterizing turbulent flow.

On the Oberbeck-Boussinesq approximation for gases

open access: yes, 2021
The Oberbeck-Boussinesq (OB) approximation for a compressible fluid in Bénard’s problem geometry is studied. We present a new derivation of the classical and ’extended’ OB models for a fluid obeying the ideal gas state equation by means of an asymptotic

On nonisothermal two‐fluid channel flows

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2007
Two‐fluid channel flows arise in different kinds of coating technologies. The corresponding mathematical models represent two‐dimensional free boundary value problems for the Navier‐Stokes equations or their modifications.

Thermal and Bioconvective Modeling and Analysis of Unsteady Cu‐Water Nanofluid Flow through Porous Media with Gyrotactic Microorganisms

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
The current study investigated unsteady boundary layer flow of a Cu/H2O$$ \mathrm{Cu}/{\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O} $$ nanofluid over an expanding sheet embedded in a Darcy porous medium, containing gyrotactic microorganisms. The model includes heat source effects, unsteadiness, buoyancy, slip conditions, and nanoparticle radius.
