Numerical approximations to the Boussinesq equations
2010A study of the Boussinesq equations in one dimension is presented. These equations describe the nonlinear wave propagation of a free surface under inviscid, incompressible, and irrotational constraints. Physically, they describe the motion of long waves (compared to the depth of the domain) which find applications in oceanography and coastal ...

Models Based on Boussinesq Approximation
2010This chapter presents the simplest way to handle the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations by using the Boussinesq approximation to close the system of equations. We also present a wide variety of turbulence models that can be employed using the Boussinesq approximation.

Approximate analytical solution of the Boussinesq equation [PDF]
A new approximate solution of the one-dimensional Boussinesq equation is presented for a semi-infinite aquifer when the hydraulic head at the source is an arbitrary function of time. Estimates for recharge, discharge, and elevation of the water table are given.

Approximate Solution of Nonlinear Boussinesq Equation
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2009This study presents an approximate solution of the nonlinear Boussinesq equation (NBE). The approximate solution of NBE is assumed to consist of space function and the Fourier cosine series which has time-varying coefficients. The space function is very thin and constant in time.
