On the Quasi-periodic Gravitational Modulation of Polymerization Front with Solid Product

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2014
The quasi-periodic gravitational modulation of polymerization front with solid product is studied in this paper. The model we consider includes the heat equation, the equation for the concentration and the Navier-Stokes equations under the Boussinesq ...

Radiation‐Absorptive Heat Transport in Buoyancy‐Driven MHD Nanofluids Flow With Cross‐Diffusion and Chemical Interaction Effects Over a Vertical Moving Plate

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article investigates the Soret–Dufour cross‐diffusion effects on radiation‐absorptive unsteady free‐convection of magnetized nanofluids (TiO2–water$$ {\mathrm{TiO}}_2\hbox{--} \mathrm{water} $$ and Cu–water$$ \mathrm{Cu}\hbox{--} \mathrm{water} $$) flow over a vertical moving permeable plate.

CaTSM: A Pseudo‐Spectral Thermodynamically Consistent Model of Compressible Flows

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2022
We introduce a pseudo‐spectral algorithm that includes full compressible dynamics with the intent of simulating near‐incompressible fluids, CaTSM (Compressible and Thermodynamically consistent Spectral Model).

Incorporating metamorphism in geodynamic models: the mass conservation problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Geodynamic models incorporating metamorphic phase transformations almost invariably assume the validity of the Boussinesq approximation that violates conservation of mass.

Higher Order Modulation Equations for a Boussinesq Equation

open access: yes, 2002
In order to investigate corrections to the common KdV approximation to long waves, we derive modulation equations for the evolution of long wavelength initial data for a Boussinesq equation.

Visco-potential free-surface flows and long wave modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In a recent study [DutykhDias2007] we presented a novel visco-potential free surface flows formulation. The governing equations contain local and nonlocal dissipative terms.

Approximation of ill-posed boussinesq equations [PDF]

open access: yesDynamical Systems, 2004
In this paper we compare the dynamics on the centre manifold of the solutions of an ill-posed Boussinesq equation with a well-posed version. We show that the dynamics in the centre manifold of the ill-posed equation tracks the dynamics of the well-posed equation. Our results give partial justification to the long-wave perturbation theory.

Stability of Viscous Three‐Dimensional Stratified Couette Flow via Dispersion and Mixing

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the stability of stratified Couette flow in the viscous 3d$3d$ Boussinesq equations. In this system, mixing effects arise from the shearing background, and gravity acts as a restoring force leading to dispersive internal gravity waves.

New Drain Spacing Formulas Using the Variational Iteration Method

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the drain spacing is computed using the variational iteration method (VIM) to the linearized Boussinesq equation. By applying at most two iterations of the VIM method under three different initial condition scenarios, three equations for drain spacing calculation were derived. These equations predict values of drain spacing that

Mathematical Modelling of the Evaporating Liquid Films on the Basis of the Generalized Interface Conditions

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
The two-dimensional films, flowing down an inclined, non-uniformly heated substrate are studied. The results contain the new mathematical models developed with the help of the long-wave approximation of the Navier-Stokes and heat transfer equations or ...
