Investigation of rotavirus and coronavirus in neonatal diarrheic calves [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Veterinary Sciences
Bovine rotavirus (BRV) ve bovine coronavirus (BCV) are the major causes of neonatal calf diarrhea. The objective of this sludy was to determine the prevalence of BRV and BCV In faecal samples from diarrhoeic calves.

Temporal regulation of bovine coronavirus RNA synthesis

open access: yesVirus Research, 1988
The structure and synthesis of bovine coronavirus (BCV)-specific intracellular RNA were studied. A genome-size RNA and seven subgenomic RNAs with molecular weights of approximately 3.3 X 10(6), 3.1 X 10(6), 2.6 X 10(6), 1.1 X 10(6), 1.0 X 10(6), 0.8 X 10(6) and 0.6 X 10(6) were detected.

Bovine Coronavirus Nucleocapsid Protein Processing and Assembly [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The coronavirus nucleocapsid protein (N) encapsidates the genomic RNA to form a helical nucleocapsid. The requirements for coronavirus nucleocapsid assembly are being studied. Two forms (approximately 50 kDa and 55 kDa) of the bovine coronavirus (BCV) N protein were detected in infected cells.

Occurrence and epidemiology of bovine coronavirus in cattle in Kazakhstan

open access: yesThe Veterinary Journal
Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) causes gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases in cattle, but its prevalence in Kazakhstan remains unknown. This nationwide cross-sectional study aimed to assess BCoV prevalence in cattle and to investigate its epidemiological characteristics. Between April and August 2024, serum, nasal and rectal swab samples were collected

Bactericidal and virucidal action of cetylpyridinium chloride and benzocaine lozenges against common oropharyngeal pathogens

open access: yesGMS Hygiene and Infection Control
Aim: Too often, antibiotics are prescribed in the treatment of pharyngitis, which can contribute to antimicrobial resistance. We aimed to assess the in vitro antiviral and antimicrobial activity of sugar-free cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC)/benzocaine ...

Plaque Assay for Titration of Bovine Enteric Coronavirus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1981
The plaquing ability of two isolates of bovine enteric coronavirus (BECV) was studied in HRT18 (human rectal adenocarcinoma) cell monolayers. Both isolates were able to induce plaque formation within 2 to 3 days; plaques appeared as round opalescent areas which remained colourless after neutral red or crystal violet staining.
