Bortezomib promotes KHSV and EBV lytic cycle by activating JNK and autophagy [PDF]
KSHV and EBV are gammaherpesviruses strictly linked to human cancers. Even if the majority of cancer cells harbor a latent infection, the few cells that undergo viral replication may contribute to the pathogenesis and maintenance of the virus-associated ...

PBLD Orchestrates the STING‐Mediated Antiviral Immune Response and Autoimmune Diseases
During viral infection, PBLD expression is downregulated, thereby subverting host antiviral defenses and promoting viral replication. This study identifies PBLD as a positive regulator of STING‐induced type I interferon activation and delineated the molecular network underlying PBLD‐mediated antiviral immunity and autoimmune pathogenesis, highlighting ...

RNAi Regulator C3PO Promotes Arbovirus Infection in Insect Vectors
RNA interference (RNAi) is vital for eukaryotes to defend against virus infection. The C3PO complex takes part in RNAi but its role in regulating viral infection remains unclear. This work finds that insect C3PO facilitates arbovirus replication by degrading precursors of miRNAs, especially miR‐971‐3p.

Characterization of a continuous feline mammary epithelial cell line susceptible to feline epitheliotropic viruses. [PDF]
Mucosal epithelial cells are the primary targets for many common viral pathogens of cats. Viral infection of epithelia can damage or disrupt the epithelial barrier that protects underlying tissues.

ABSTRACT This study investigated the phytochemical profile, cytotoxicity, and anti‐herpetic activity of the hydroethanolic extract from Scoparia dulcis L. aerial parts. Mass spectrometry revealed the presence of 15 compounds. The extract showed low cytotoxicity in Vero cells, maintaining over 80% viability at concentrations up to 250 µg/mL.

Clinical protection against caprine herpesvirus 1 genital infection by intranasal administration of a live attenuated glycoprotein E negative bovine herpesvirus 1 vaccine [PDF]
Background: Caprine herpesvirus 1 (CpHV-1) is responsible of systemic diseases in kids and genital diseases leading to abortions in goats. CpHV-1 is widespread and especially in Mediterranean countries as Greece, Italy and Spain.

Mapping protein–protein interactions by mass spectrometry
Abstract Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) are essential for numerous biological activities, including signal transduction, transcription control, and metabolism. They play a pivotal role in the organization and function of the proteome, and their perturbation is associated with various diseases, such as cancer, neurodegeneration, and infectious ...
