Serological survey of bovine herpesvirus type 1 infection in China
Veterinary Microbiology, 2008To understand the nationwide seroprevalence of bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) infection of cows in China, 1344 sera of dairy cows from 29 provinces and 765 sera from 6 herds in Hubei province were collected with stratified random sampling. Another 483 sera from imported cows were included. The serum antibody was tested by BoHV-1 gG ELISA.

Latent infection with bovine herpesvirus type 1
Seminars in Virology, 1994Abstract As with other alphaherpesviruses, the molecular mechanisms that underlie bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1) latency and reactivation are poorly understood. Restricted transcription of the BHV-1 genome has been described in latently infected neurons of the natural host and in the rabbit latency model.

Protein display by bovine herpesvirus type 1 glycoprotein B
Veterinary Microbiology, 2010Glycoprotein B (gB) of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1), a major component of the viral envelope, is essential for membrane fusion during entry and cell-to-cell spread. It is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network by the proprotein convertase furin. Integration of the open reading frame (ORF) encoding a mutated gB with a second furin cleavage site and mature ...

Interactions of Bovine Herpesvirus Type 1 and Neurons in Vitro
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1982Legend. Autoradiograph of attachment of radiolabeled bovine herpesvirus type 1 to neurons and fibroblasts in culture. After incubation for 75 min, virus is concentrated in the nucleus of fibroblasts but no adsorption to neurons has occurred. Cultures of neurons were prepared by digestion of trigeminal ganglia of bovine fetuses (gestational age, five to

Viral Immunology, 1989
A panel of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) to BHV-1, specific for gI and gIII glycoproteins and for a nonglycosylated core protein p100, was used to examine the epitope specificity of the immune response to the virus in naturally exposed and experimentally infected cattle.

Oncolytic bovine herpesvirus type 1 as a broad spectrum cancer therapeutic
Current Opinion in Virology, 2015Oncolytic viruses selectively replicate in tumor cells and elicit antitumor effects in vivo by both direct and indirect methods. They are attractive avenues of cancer therapy due to the absence of toxic side effects often seen in current treatment modalities.

Characterization of an Iscom Prepared with Envelope Glycoproteins of Bovine Herpesvirus Type 1
Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series B, 1988SummaryA gentle method for BHV‐1 purification — allowing the preservation of viral envelope — was used by applying a moderate centrifugal force and metrizamide as gradient. The virus purified by this procedure was used for the preparation of iscoms. A total recovery of 25% of viral proteins was achieved in iscoms as the final product.

Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) are susceptible to bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) and a species-specific herpesvirus, bubaline herpesvirus type 1 (BuHV-1). In this study, an attenuated marker BoHV-1 based vaccine against BuHV-1 challenge was evaluated to determine whether it induces protection from viral replication.

Effect of dexamethasone on bovine leukocyte functions and bovine herpesvirus type-1 replication.
Canadian journal of veterinary research = Revue canadienne de recherche veterinaire, 1987In an attempt to elucidate the mechanism whereby dexamethasone could reactivate bovine herpesvirus type-1 the effect of dexamethasone on virus replication and leukocyte functions was assessed. No effect was detectable on either virus yield or in vitro replication kinetics.

Restriction endonuclease patterns of bovine herpesvirus type 1 isolated from bovine mammary glands
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1986SUMMARY Restriction endonuclease analysis was used, in conjunction with viral neutralization and growth-curve experiments, to compare a bovine herpesvirus type 1 (bhv-1) isolate, originally obtained from bovine mammary gland lesions, with a standard bhv-1 strain, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus.
