Ultrastructural Studies of Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex
Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1975Bovine respiratory diseases cause serious economic loses and present diagnostic difficulties due to the variety of etiologic agents, predisposing conditions, parasites, viruses, bacteria and mycoplasma, and may be multiple or complicated. Several agents which have been isolated from the abnormal lungs are still the subject of controversy and ...

Validating loci associated with bovine respiratory disease complex in pre‐weaned Holstein calves
Animal Genetics, 2019SummaryBovine respiratory disease (BRD) is considered one of the most economically important diseases in the cattle industry. Ultimately, the selection of cattle that are less susceptible to disease will allow producers to reduce the prevalence of BRD and lessen its economic impact. The objective of this study was to validate previously identified loci

Natural human interferon-alpha (nHuIFN-alpha) from three sources was given orally to 368 calves experiencing a natural outbreak of bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC). In one study, 200 calves were given one treatment daily for 3 days of placebo or 20, 200, or 2,000 IU of nHuIFN-alpha before shipment.

Histophilus somni: AS an ETIOLOGIC AGENT of BOVINE RESPIRATORY DISEASE COMPLEX (BRDC)
2023The bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in cattle related to pneumonia. Many of the bacterial agents found in BRDC are associated with other predisposed environmental variables, physiological stresses, or concomitant illnesses. Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni,

changing impact of economics on managing bovine respiratory disease complex in feedlot cattle
American Association of Bovine Practitioners Conference Proceedings, 2015The cattle market has set year-over-year record high prices since 2009. The increasing value of cattle has substantially increased the financial risk of feeding cattle, and has commensurately increased the economic losses from disease. As cattle feeding profitability continues to be challenged by the low margin between selling prices and operating ...

Current Observations On The Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex In High Plains Feedyards
American Association of Bovine Practitioners Conference Proceedings, 1979The bovine respiratory disease (BRO) complex is more complex than an elephant. Just as the blind men gave diverse descriptions of the elephant, comments concerning BRO will certainly vary according to the bias of the observer. The following biased report comes from a laboratory diagnostician, and is an overview of BRO episodes as they have occurred in ...

One thousand and eighty-five newly received, stressed calves were used in studies to determine the effectiveness of certain mass medication procedures for reducing morbidity from shipping fever-bovine respiratory disease complex. In two experiments, im injections of oxytetracycline at 11 mg/kg body wt for 3 successive days reduced treatment days/calf ...
