Bovine rotavirus serotypes and their significance for immunization [PDF]
Neutralization assays on calf fecal rotavirus with antisera to two previously described bovine rotavirus serotypes allowed the isolation of four rotaviruses belonging to a distinct third serotype. In a survey of 85 calf isolates, 80 rotaviruses belonged to serotype 1 (91%), 1 belonged to serotype 2 (1%), and 4 belonged to serotype 3 (5%).

Sensitive detection systems for infectious agents in xenotransplantation*
Abstract Xenotransplantation of pig cells, tissues, or organs may be associated with transmission of porcine microorganisms, first of all of viruses, to the transplant recipient, potentially inducing a disease (zoonosis). I would like to define detection systems as the complex of sample generation, sample preparation, sample origin, time of sampling ...

Whole-Genome Characterization of Rare Artiodactyl-Like G10P [14] and G8P [14] Rotavirus a Strains Detected in Pediatric Gastroenteritis Cases in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Rotavirus alphagastroenteritidis (RVA) is the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis in young children worldwide, as well as in a wide range of animal species. In 2020 and 2022, we identified three unusual RVA strains in pediatric gastroenteritis patients in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, using next‐generation sequencing: one G10P[14] strain ...

Polypeptides of Bovine Rotavirus
Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of bovine rotavirus or neonatal calf diarrhoea virus (NCDV) grown in cell culture resolved eight species of polypeptide. The inner shell particles contained five polypeptides and the outer shell three polypeptides. A major polypeptide of the outer shell was glycosylated.

Cattle develop neutralizing antibodies to rotavirus serotypes which could not be isolated from faeces of symptomatic calves [PDF]
Neutralizing antibodies against 10 serotypes of rotavirus were measured in sera from different age groups of German cattle. Only five of 143 sera did not neutralize heterologous serotypes.

Antigenic and biochemical characterization of bovine rotavirus V1005, a new member of rotavirus serotype 10 [PDF]
Bovine rotavirus (BRV) V1005 is serologically distinct from rotavirus serotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. BRV V1005 showed cross-reactions with BRV B223, the American prototype of serotype 10 rotavirus, and with BRV E4049, a British serotype 10 isolate.

Plant-produced viral bovine vaccines: What happened during the last ten years? [PDF]
Vaccination has proved to be an efficient strategy to deal with viral infections in both human and animal species. However, protection of cattle against viral infections is still a major concern in veterinary science.
