Immunological aspects of bovine trypanosomiasis
Tropical Animal Health and Production, 1971Patterns of antibody production in relation to the presence or absence of trypanosomes and to drug treatment, were studied in 38 cattle. The animals were infected with one or more of the three groups of African pathogenic trypanosome. An indirect fluorescent antibody test was used. A stronger homologous antibody was noted.

Immune haemolytic anaemia in bovine trypanosomiasis
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1982Abstract Six Jersey calves infected experimentally with Trypanosoma vivax became severely anaemic within the first 2 weeks of infection. Three calves developed a positive direct Coombs antiglobulin test and immunoglobulins and complement were detected on the erythrocyte membrane on infrequent occasions during the infection.

Disease tolerance and immune response in bovine trypanosomiasis is mediated by CD14 promoter gene
Journal of Immunology, 2019Bovine trypanosomiasis is a major drawback for cattle production in sub-Saharan Africa. Immune response to infection is thought to be mediated by genetic diversity in pattern recognition receptors, leading to disease tolerance or susceptibility.
