Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Enteritis in Neonatal and Juvenile Ruminants. [PDF]
Common causes of infectious enteritis in neonate and juvenile ruminants include viral, bacterial, and protozoal pathogens. The most common presenting sign in ruminants with infectious enteritis is diarrhea.

Abstract Background Our study evaluated the antibody responses against bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV)‐1 and BVDV‐2 generated by a novel subunit vaccine comprising BVDV‐1 E2 and BVDV‐2 E2 recombinant glycoproteins. Methods Two trials were conducted.

The Effect of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus Biotypes on Bovine Oocyte In Vitro
Bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) is a significant pathogen with two biotypes, cytopathic (CP) and non‐cytopathic (NCP). The aims were to examine the impact of BVDV on the expression of genes related to apoptosis and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in vitro. Oocytes were infected with two BVDV biotypes.

Control of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) in cattle populations across most of the world has remained elusive in spite of advances in knowledge about this viral pathogen. A central feature of virus perseverance in cattle herds is the unique mechanism

Evaluation of a commercial Erns-capture ELISA for detection of BVDV in routine diagnostic cattle serum samples [PDF]
Background Bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) is an important pathogen in cattle. The ability of the virus to cross the placenta during early pregnancy can result in the birth of persistently infected (PI) calves.

Bovine viral diarrhea virus NS4B protein is an integral membrane protein associated with Golgi markers and rearranged host membranes [PDF]
Background Very little is known about BVDV NS4B, a protein of approximately 38 kDa. However, a missense mutation in NS4B has been implicated in changing BVDV from a cytopathic to noncytopathic virus, suggesting that NS4B might play a role in BVDV ...

The internal initiation of translation in bovine viral diarrhea virus RNA depends on the presence of an RNA pseudoknot upstream of the initiation codon [PDF]
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is the prototype representative of the pestivirus genus in the Flaviviridae family. It has been shown that the initiation of translation of BVDV RNA occurs by an internal ribosome entry mechanism mediated by the 5 ...

Protein signatures using electrostatic molecular surfaces in harmonic space [PDF]
We developed a novel method based on the Fourier analysis of protein molecular surfaces to speed up the analysis of the vast structural data generated in the post-genomic era.
