ABSTRACT Background Bovine leukaemia virus (BLV) and Coxiella burnetii are important infectious pathogens of dairy cattle with potential implications for animal health, productivity and zoonotic transmission (in the case of C. burnetii). Because BLV may alter immune function, we hypothesize that infection with the virus could increase cattle ...

Bovine bacterial abortion caused by Escherichia coli infection
Abstract A 3‐year‐old, 500 kg Holstein cow aborted at 7 months of gestation. On histological evaluation of the fetal lungs, abundant neutrophils infiltrated the alveolar spaces, bronchi and bronchioles with intralesional Gram‐negative bacteria, immunolabelled with Escherichia coli immunohistochemistry.

Can a shorter peptide be a better antiviral? Structure‐guided optimization of the amphibian peptide Hs‐1 reveals a minimal α‐helical core that, after terminal modification, displays enhanced stability and submicromolar broad‐spectrum activity against enveloped viruses while maintaining a favorable safety profile. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) represent

Experimental infection of pregnant goats with bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) 1 or 2 [PDF]
Infections with bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) of the genus pestivirus, family Flaviviridae, are not limited to cattle but occur in various artiodactyls. Persistently infected (PI) cattle are the main source of BVDV. Persistent infections also occur in heterologous hosts such as sheep and deer.

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a major viral pathogen of cattle, leading to substantial economic losses. A major source of loss is attributed to fetal infection with subsequent fetal pathology. The major source of virus transmission is cattle that

Involvement of the Wnt pathway in BVDV cytopathogenic strain replication in primary bovine cells
Background Bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 (BVDV-1) of the pestivirus genus is an economically crippling virus in the cattle industry; this positive RNA virus causes mucosal disease resulting in reproductive losses and other disease syndromes.

ABSTRACT The detergent Triton X‐100 (TX‐100) is a typical component of solvent/detergent (S/D) mixes applied for virus inactivation steps of biomanufacturing processes, yet environmentally unfavorable properties have led to restrictions on its use. Deviron 13‐S9 has recently been described as an eco‐friendly TX‐100 alternative, with powerful virus ...

Molecular Modelling Study of the 3D Structure of the Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) Helicase
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a member of the Flaviviridae family of viruses and constitutes a very important pathogen for livestock around the world [1]. The viral helicase is an enzyme essential for the proliferation and transmission of the virus.
