Bow Wave from Ultraintense Electromagnetic Pulses in Plasmas [PDF]
We show a new effect of the bow wave excitation by an intense short laser pulse propagating in underdense plasma. Due to spreading of the laser pulse energy in transverse direction, the bow wave causes a large-scale transverse modulation of the electron density. This can significantly increase the electric potential of the wake wave since the wake wave

Thrust Enhancement of DTMB 5415 with Elastic Flapping Foil in Regular Head Waves
Recent studies indicate that bow foil biomimetic systems can significantly improve ship propulsion in waves. In this paper, the DTMB 5415 ship model is taken as the object and a semi-active elastic flapping foil is proposed to install at its bow ...

MESSENGER Observations of Standing Whistler Waves Upstream of Mercury's Bow Shock
This paper reports on the standing whistler waves upstream of Mercury's quasi‐perpendicular bow shock. Using MESSENGER's magnetometer data, 36 wave events were identified during interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs).

CFD Investigation for Sonar Dome with Bulbous Bow Effect
The objective of this study is to design a hull-mounted sonar dome of a ship using OpenFOAM with a bulbous bow effect at cruise speed in calm water. Verification and validation for the original sonar dome simulation are conducted.

Transmission of foreshock waves through Earth’s bow shock
AbstractThe Earth’s magnetosphere and its bow shock, which is formed by the interaction of the supersonic solar wind with the terrestrial magnetic field, constitute a rich natural laboratory enabling in situ investigations of universal plasma processes.

Study on the position of the bow spray rail of a patrol vessel
Modern patrol ships characterised by an 'axe bow' shape allows the placement of an anti-spray rail. These not only reduce drag but also minimize the wave height generated by the ship's bow.

Comment on ``Ground State Phase Diagram of a Half-Filled One-Dimensional Extended Hubbard Model'' [PDF]
In Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 236401 (2002), Jeckelmann argued that the recently discovered bond-order-wave (BOW) phase of the 1D extended Hubbard model does not have a finite extent in the (U,V) plane, but exists only on a segment of a first-order SDW-CDW ...

The Future Is Colorful—An Analysis of the CO2 Bow Wave and Why Green Hydrogen Cannot Do It Alone
In both the private and public sectors, green hydrogen is treated as a promising alternative to fossil energy commodities. However, building up production capacities involves significant carbon production, especially when considering secondary ...
