Isolation of Degrees of Freedom for Box—Behnken Designs
Technometrics, 1994The Box–Behnken three-level designs have proved useful for fitting second-order response surfaces to experimental data. Here, we discuss an aspect of their value in the detection of lack of model fit. The degrees of freedom in excess of those needed to fit the model can be used advantageously for contrasts which estimate certain higher-order departures

Optimization and development of antidiabetic phytosomes by the Box–Behnken design
Journal of Liposome Research, 2017Researchers have extensively reviewed on herbs and natural products for their marked clinical efficacy in some recent years, however, maximum of the newly discovered bioactive constituents offer poor bioavailability due to their large size molecules or to their poor miscibility with oils and lipids, thereby limiting their ability to pass across the ...

Box-Behnken experimental design for the production of precipitated calcium carbonate
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 2016Abstract Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) was synthesized by means of ultrasonic process in the presence of the water-soluble polymer carboxymethyl inulin (CMI). Synthesized CaCO3 crystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and BET (Brunauer, Emmett and Teller) isotherm.

Formulation and optimization of rifampicin microparticles by Box-Behnken statistical design
Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, 2011The objective of the present study was to optimize and evaluate in vitro gastroretentive performance of rifampicin microparticles. Formulations were optimized using design of experiments by employing a 4-factor, 3-level Box-Behnken statistical design. Independent variables studied were the ratio of polymers (Eudragit RSPO: ethyl cellulose), inert drug ...

Reinvestigating nanoprecipitation via Box–Behnken design: a systematic approach
Journal of Microencapsulation, 2014This work demonstrates Box-Behnken design (BBD)'s capability in exploring scientific principles governing a process, different from its use in process optimisation. We have investigated nanoprecipitation (NP) of temozolomide with polycaprolactone. Five factors, surfactant, stirring speed (SS), dropping rate (DR), phase-volume ratio (PVR) and drug ...

Box-Behnken optimization of cracking performance of asphalt mixtures
Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure, 2017AbstractThis study evaluated and optimized the cracking potential of asphalt mixtures using the static semicircular bending (SCB) test and the associated fracture mechanics principles. The scope included determination of fracture resistance (KIC) of asphalt mixes at varying mix properties and temperatures.
