On the Use of the Fractal Box-Counting Dimension in Urban Planning

Fractal geometry has found many applications in science and technology. Some time ago, it was used to study urban development. However, something that has not been addressed so far, to the best of our knowledge, is whether a drastic extension of some urban area also changes drastically the box-counting dimension of the area.
